Trading - Day 41

in #poetry6 years ago

Inspired by the V shape in the first picture. I rarely have an idea where my poems will take me. I just start writing with a general theme, find a pattern or feel and stick to it.

V is for vendetta,
But I don’t find any here.
Overwhelmed by magnificence
-Stripped of my veneer-
Trading fear for fear.

Laying down false pretenses
That tax my every nerve.
Breathing in cold, crisp clearness
-Bestowing reverie verve-
Trading swerve for swerve

Giving up my expectations
That throw me to the ground.
Anticipating completely
-Whatever comes around-
Trading pound for pound.

Releasing pent up anger
That jerks me by the strings.
Repeating howls that echo
-And give my soul new wings-
Trading swings for swings.

Sort:

I write my poems in a similar fashion. Especially on this daily poetry Journal. I just sit down and whatever comes comes. Can totally relate. 😎

Trading swings for swings.

Key line of the state of the soul in the poem.

There's some great rhymes tucked away in this piece. My favourite came in the last stanza:

That jerks me by the strings.
Repeating howls that echo
-And give my soul new wings-

I get a sense of compromise, and learning to quell the urge for revenge and anger. A very knowing and mature poem :)
