In the Park Part 23 (5-minute freewrite Day 260 prompt: chalk)
Slowly the bus crept around the corner and up the next block past the side of the arena. Then there were several more turns until the freeway was reached, and the circuitous route to the far side of town continued. "Relax," Selene urged Lisa, who was looking extremely tense. "We still have until 7 p.m., and it's not even noon yet. We can do this." "Do you know where the thrift stores are in that part of town?" asked Lisa. "Remember, we still have to get that housecoat before I eat the yogurt. " "I'll look it up on my phone while we're on the bus," exclaimed Selene. Soon a list had popped up and they huddled over it together. "It looks as if two are really close to the specialty grocery store, and at least three more are within half a mile. We ought to be able to find something at one of those. What shall we do first? The thrift stores, or the grocery store?" They really hadn't thought that part through very well yet. Lisa thought they should hit the thrift stores first, so the yogurt wouldn't go bad. "It's really disgusting to eat warm yogurt, you know. It kind of tastes like chalk." "How do you know?" asked Selene. "Do you have personal experience? If so, there must be a good story behind that!" "Well, yes, I ate some yogurt once when I was a kid after it had been sitting out on the counter for a few hours. It was really gross. I'm surprised I didn't get sick ." "Okay then, first the thrift stores, and then the grocery store!" agreed Selene, adding suddenly, "Wait! I better check on the hours these places are open. That could be a big problem!"
