In the Park Part 17 (5 minute freewrite day 243 prompt: phone)
Lisa and Selene were so absorbed in the white cat, they didn't even hear Anne open the front door. Suddenly they heard a pleasant voice ask, "Can I help you girls with something?" Embarrassed and startled, both girls sat up quickly and looked around. Selene was the first to find her voice, "Oh, ma'am, we are so sorry to be messing around in your driveway! It's just that...our cat got away and ran under your car, and we want it to come out." Anne nodded sympathetically. "Cats love to hide under cars," she observed. "How about if I get a can of tuna? That might help!" "Oh yes," Lisa exclaimed," that's a wonderful idea!" Anne vanished into the house and was back in less than two minutes with a can of tuna and a plate. Dishing up about half the can, she set it near the back of the car. Then they all just stood nearby and waited. Sure enough, the skinny white cat crept cautiously out from under the BMW and began to hungrily eat the tuna. Lisa had to restrain herself from dashing right over to pick it up. It was a stray, after all, not hers. "It's been missing for a few days," she explained, " and it's probably jumpy by now." (Why not just keep on lying, after all?!) Slowly she inched toward the cat, which was entirely focused on its meal. Finally she was able to reach out and carefully pet the cat on its bony back. Just two or three strokes must be enough! Barely had she accomplished this feat when Anne's cell phone rang. Startled, the cat, darted back under the car. "We'll come back for it later!" called the girls as they ran back to the street and hurried to the nearest convenience store to buy a pack of cigarettes.

Darn phone. They were so close to getting that cat. I am happy to see this story continue and I have so much to catch up on. Looking forward to it. : )

Wow, okay- so I read this story starting from part fifteen just about a week ago, and then I decided to start from the beginning to completely understand it- everything makes so much sense now! Very fun story, I am enjoying reading it a lot!
Thank you so much! It definitely is "light reading", just a goofy little story that gets shaped by the daily prompts. But I'm having fun with it.
