USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Cryptocompare (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily closing price which came out to:

  • STEEM: $2.19279
  • SBD: $2.33181

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $2.88952
  • SBD: $2.95956

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Linked Accounts

hitbtc includes hitbtc-exchange and hitbtc-payout, freewallet.org includes freewallet, openledger includes openledger-dex, binance includes binance-hot and deepcrypto8, upbit includes upbit-exchange and myupbit, and gopax includes gopax and gopax-deposit.

Commentary

  • Over a million bucks heading to exchanges with the price going down. That's a lot of STEEM heading out the doors.

  • I'll leave it to your imagination as to what the top depositing account is all about (yes, porn is adopting cryptocurrency in many forms). Could that be an example of what's to come where people and companies buy up STEEM in order to self-vote and earn influence?

  • The decrese in people powering down next week is 12.78% in the green compared to the previous week.

Do you also have these statistics over time, say, for example on a weekly or monthly basis for the last 12 months?

I've played with it a little bit, but I don't have something together right now. It might be interesting to look at the top deposits and withdrawals over multiple months, though.

Well you keep us upto date regarding steem, you share useful information, keep sharing such posts, thankyou

very good article :) you are great :) @lukestokes

Nice article!

Any thoughts on today's Twitter FUD?

Can you clarify which FUD you mean?

Gotcha. Yeah, here are my thoughts:

Maybe centralized services like Google, Facebook, and Twitter want to avoid pushing ads for things which may later be called securities. Or maybe they realize decentralized tokenomics threaten their business model of owning, controlling, and selling your data.

Wise words...

I appreciate you being so active in the community, and answering to the comments you get :)!

excellent work....have a look at my site and market comments recently...you may find rather accurate. thanks...

I can’t wait for individual cryptocurrencies start to trade on their own merit instead of following Bitcoin. The correlation is destroying the market and is impacting great projects like Steem. However, time will come when good projects will do good and those that cannot execute will go to zero. This will ultimately help the market as quality will be rewarded.

I agree. When all exchange pairs with volume are locked with BTC, everything moves together. The real change will happen when people decide, "I'd rather hold the cryptocurrency, regardless of the fiat price."

Interesting report. There seems to be some serious money moving around. Rather ironic that in this virtual or parallel reality there is more transparency than in the "real" world! It is one of the things I particularly appreciate about this platform.

That's a good point. I think the lines between "real" and "virtual" are going to continue to blur.

I was definitely on the "incoming steem" side of the fence this past week (well, let's be honest this is usually the side I stay on) as I couldn't resist buying a bit of steem when it dropped under 2.50 and then $2!

I've made a couple of buys of about 100-120 steem each and powered them up and also have been converting my SBD earned to steem and then SP. I haven't bought steem since 2017 honestly so maybe others will see this price level as an opportunity and as the new "time to get in / time to add" just as I have if they have the resources.

I've delegated pretty heavily as of recently and just realized I've got less than half my SP going towards my upvote value...however, whatever I'm losing in curation rewards is far outweighed by SBD returns from my delegations, which I also convert to Steem and then power up.

I guess I'm just a Steem power kinda guy! I'm chomping at the bit to hit 7K SP so I'll have a 50/50 split of delegated and retained steem power.

As for the outgoing Steem....SMH. I can't imagine why at this point. Why now? It was 3x this price a few months ago! I guess maybe some of it was the tail end of powerdowns that were initiated when the price of steem and pretty much everything else was up in the stratosphere in that magical month of December 2017. It's their money and they can do what they want with it though so to each his own....

Hope you've had a good weekend.

Wonderful post (series of ... this is the first one I've discovered). Thank you Luke Stokes

@grumpycat is powering down ... Is he giving up ? He transferred some steem to a @madpuppy account ... pfff, what will be next, @crazymouse ?

While the deposits in the top account and their use of Dtube is interesting, what concerns me these days is the future of SBD. Can we have some information on what the witnesses are going to do about SBD's pegging to USD as the value keeps going downwards to $1.

It would be nice to get the information out loud and clear before implementation so that people can make their moves. Some of us, including myself, have been stuck in uncertainity ever since the decline began in the crypto markets.

Thank you.
