exchange_transfer_report_header.png

USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $2.84352
  • SBD: $8.65544

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $1.78770
  • SBD: $5.94550

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Linked Accounts

hitbtc includes hitbtc-exchange and hitbtc-payout, freewallet.org includes freewallet, and openledger includes openledger-dex.

Withdrawal to Deposit Ratio by User Count over Time

Commentary

  • The withdrawal to deposit ratio is still dropping which means more accounts are depositing. I also noticed the average deposit amount almost matches the withdrawal amount, which is rare (only off by about 10%).

  • @yoo1900 tops the list with over $800k in deposit this week!

  • @alpha is leading the way once again with this week's withdrawals. That's a tricky account to make sense of because it's owned by @blocktrades which is also an exchange account (along with a personal account). I had a chance to chat with him briefly about some of the big transfers there, and he assured me there's no big conspiracy going on. Some are older manual delegations and some are OTC (over the counter) trades being facilitated. He doesn't comment on them much since they are mostly business trades and as a service provider, that wouldn't be proper. Even though toping the "withdrawal" list may look like a big cash out, he said he's very bullish on STEEM, and it's one of their biggest coins.

  • STEEM and SBD or finally getting some love in the markets! The price is rising against BTC for the first in a long time. Here's the 3 month price chart (the orange line is BTC price):

  • The powerdown graph was broken last week, so this week's percentages are a bit funky. Take it for what it's worth.

In the post you link you say:

There has been a lot of talk about Steemit being a scam or a ponzi scheme.

Just out of curiosity "where" do you see this? Since that article was written a while ago, has that changed from then till now? My assumption would be that it is seen less as a scam since the value is going up.
What, in your opinion, is the number one thing steemit needs to do to really "take off"? (I know that's a big question, but I'm just curious for a general answer)

Merry Christmas to you and your family :)

Not sure which post you're referring to, but maybe the original over a year and a half ago?

As to "where" I'd have to say "the internet." There are so many different communication platforms now, it's hard to keep track (bitcointalk, twitter, facebook, discord, telegram, slack, etc, etc).

What has changed? We're still here. That and the underlying blockchain and interfaces (steemit, busy, chainbb) have improved.

As to what it needs to take off? That's too big of a question to even give a general answer. Any answer given would be incomplete, misleading, and potentially invalid within a very short time. I've given answers in the steemit growth forum and on the panel discussion I was on recently. Maybe this post gives some of the answer.

Time and patience.

Totally missing those $15 SBD days

I'll take $8.00 SBD all day.

Can SBD still continue its' rise? Hoping so...

Right, everyday 😂😂😂

haha my man, me too. But 8 bucks is still better than 1, and maybe after new years it will shoot north again. Cross your fingers.

Hello @lukestokes

You represent eyes of many novices in steem/it ecosystem and what goes in there. This makes us to know the state of the platform healthwise at all times. This I appreciate in no small measure. Thanks

Very useful info thanks

It is amazing

Hey hitbtc working?
I listened that they are running maintenance on exchange.

Not sure. If they say it's down, then it's probably down. It was up at least some part of this last week, which is why it shows values on this report.

They are hiding something I think!
Maintenance is just a joke 😥😥😥

I haven't been able to use HitBTC for Steem trades in at least 3 weeks.

Wow. Comparing the Top 10 deposits now to your report back in October. Amazing.

I would say that's a handsome increase !!
