USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $1.78770
  • SBD: $5.94550

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $1.54107
  • SBD: $4.31140

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Linked Accounts

hitbtc includes hitbtc-exchange and hitbtc-payout, freewallet.org includes freewallet, and openledger includes openledger-dex.

Commentary

  • Very Interesting: For maybe the first time since I've done this report, we see more Steem coming into Steemit that leaving it! That's a really exciting thing. Does that mean people are taking the high price of SBD and selling them for STEEM to send back to the system? Maybe some arbitrage is in play?

  • Ah yes, that's confirmed by the top of the list @happychau123. Check out their transfers. Buying SBD like crazy on the internal market, sending to bittrex, presumedly selling to buy STEEM and then repeating the process again. Very interesting.

  • With the price of STEEM and SBD going up, I thought we'd see more people heading for the exits. Are they starting to believe...?

  • I noticed @rudex which is another exchange. I'll add them to next week's report.

  • Power down report is missing this week as steemdb seems to be down at the moment. I've let @jesta know.

Beautiful demography ! Thanks for sharing my friend !!

I didn't know that word prior to your comment. :)

Just trying to say about your beautiful statistical data presentation ! Thanks for you !

Is it very woman related not to understand the balls of that ? :-) (flemish expression) I read over your balances and graphics, like i should understand, but i do not :-) lol
i do understand the last bit the commentary! i just see it is going well i read it in your text and see it in my wallet.

Haha... I have never heard of that expression. :)

It's a bit confusing, but the first report I did hopefully explains it a bit.

it is clear do not take me wrong! it´s my brain that does not want to go around it. :-)

Steem is up to 2.45 on coin market cap! Sbd was over 15usd on bittrex today too. Steemits really growing fast now!

It's an exciting time, for sure. What I'm hoping for most is gains against BTC (without it crashing).

I'm also hoping this happens for steem. Would be delighted to see the first blogging platform turn into something sustainable with its own thriving economy.

I believe the Steem / SBD ratio is great! This enables actual users of Steem to get some at a great prices from our Fruit of Work!

Steem and SBD is growing more stronger

Great blog.... It helps the begainers to understand exactly what they supposed to do.... Thanks for sharing

Great information thank you dear @lukestokes

With the rate at which sbd is soaring high, steemians are gonna rule the world

That's a good content one..I appreciate to your blog..Carry on my friend ..I will wait for your new blog..

Being a newbie in Steemit, this is really helpful in regards to this cryptocurrency. Hoping to read more of your posts. Thanks for sharing!

Cryptocurrency is a life changer post like that is very good

I guess that we will have my withdrawals this holiday season however great to see huge deposits and I hope to join them before steem price goes to the moon ...thanks for sharng. Today , I wrote about Why the Rich and Poor need cryptocurrencies -feel free to see if when you are free. More success to you.

The time for belief is nigh... scratch that, IT'S HERE! peace (-:

Hey Luke, you really put the time and effort in and deserve every penny you make! Congrats to you. I just wanted to stop by and let you know I started the Thailand series with the incredible beaches that you said you were looking forward to seeing. So here is part one. Hope you enjoy and it inspires you to go with your lovely family, and yes, this is one of the better family friendly places in Thailand....as you may know some places in this country can be quite seedy but not this one. Thanks again for your incredible support. -Dan

I'll be sure to check the whole series once we get ready to plan our travel. Thanks for putting that together.

Today , Tuesday 19 Dec 2017 the price of Steem is up 33% at $3.30. Steem Dollars (SBD) is up 2.67% at $13.47.

The most likely reason for the rise in Steem price is the arrival of investors looking for more digital assets so that they do not hold only bitcoin.

Steem is a good candidate for such investors, because it has a strong use-case which is well established.

If I am correct about what is happening, it is reasonable to assume that steem will ultimately be 10% to 20% of a digital assets portfolio.

Even if we have no future price increases in bitcoin, that points to a steem price of over $200, or 60X today’s price.

How fast will the steem price increase from here? It’s impossible to call these things in the speeded up crypto world. If I was to hazard a guess, I will say it will do the next 10X faster than bitcoin did the last 10X. In other words we will be looking at $30+ within a few months.

thanks for sharing the experience you had when first starting out. i will keep that in mind for any future comments i might be making. thanks for preventing new steemians from making those mistakes :) by the way i like what your doing here on steem, you keep it real, i can appreciate that for sure :)
thanks for sharing your experience :) ..

The tide is turning. Do you expect a 1-to-1 ratio soon?

Can you imagine? If we got a 1:1 ratio or something even the other direction, the price of STEEM/SBD could moon so fast it would be crazy. I have no idea if or when that will ever happen.

you are a great friend. never lag with excellent information and you are very helpful for us to find very useful information

Is it withdrawal to deposit or deposit to withdrawal ? Ref: graph. Does the graph show an increase in deposit bewteen the 12 and 19th of Dec? Just trying to makes sense of the ratio, I may just have it wrong .

It's 2.90 withdrawing accounts for every 1 depositing account. It may not be a super helpful metric as some accounts like @steemit split up their withdrawals into multiple accounts.
