Exchange Transfer Report: 7/9/2017 to 7/15/2017
USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

Assumptions

What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Withdrawal to Deposit Ratio by User Count over Time

Commentary
The withdrawal to deposit ratio is about the same as last week at 5.05 to 1.
Two weeks ago, $2M was outbound. Last week $1M. This week, $500k. A big part of that, I think, has to do with the falling price of Steem and of all cryptocurrencies in general.
Keep in mind, if the SBD price stays below $1, it might be a good time to use the convert to Steem option which takes 3.5 days. You'll get $1 worth of Steem for something worth less than $1. On the flip side, if the price of Steem keeps falling, you might be able to buy it cheaper later anyway.
It's been a rough couple weeks for cryptocurrencies. If you sold and are sitting in cash ready to jump back in, congratulations, just don't miss the boat. I'm still holding as I've talked about here and here.

Great information Luke. The whole Poloniex situation has added a lot of extra downward pressure on the Steem price. Also, I agree that it's no surprise to see the number of power downs decrease with the falling price of Steem. I think we have a couple more weeks to add to our positions at a discount before the segwit2x sorts it's self out. I see it as a blown up narrative capitalizing on fear to fleece the weak hands and nothing more, but we will see.

I really do hope we see a nice bump upwards after all this segwit2x drama, but it's also possible it could go horribly wrong, fork the whole chain and destroy a lot of confidence which could take years to recover. It's going to be an interesting time, either way.

I think it is the right time to use the convert to Steem option which takes 3.5 days while taking into consideration your statistic.

Why not use the Market to do it in seconds? You could even set a price and wait until it drops down to your asking price if you want.
No one says you can't, but the conversion has a couple added benefits:
You're destroying SBD in the process which lowers the overall debt in existence (SBD is a debt instrument, a STEEM IOU).
You may end up with more STEEM because the smart contract you are promised is $1 worth of STEEM, even if SBD is trading below that. The market won't give you that same bargain. Of course, the market could shift in any direction, so you're never sure. You could buy today and have it much cheaper in 3.5 days (or much more expensive). By using the 3.5 day average, you're essentially dollar cost averaging your purchase.
I started using the Market because I was loosing STEEM in the 3.5 day conversion.
If the price of SBD is above $1, you should not use the convert function as you will get less STEEM (as you're only getting $1 worth, even if SBD is worth more than $1). Also, if the price of STEEM changes significantly during that window, the conversion will either help or hurt you.
Here's an example I did recently:
At the time I started the conversion of $1500:

But here's what I actually got:
So here's what we can gather from that:
If I had just used the market, I would have received around 168 fewer STEEM by selling.
If I had just waited and not converted at all, but instead sold on the market 3.5 days later, I would have made 82 more STEEM.
So yes, if I can predict the future, the market is a better bet. Since I can't, I like the edge the conversion gives you as long as SBD stays below $1.
With the Market, you can set the price you want and it will stay open until it is filled.
So, not predicting the future, but getting what you expect.
Depends on how patient you are, but yes. Some orders have been sitting for quite a long time while STEEM was trading above $1 and $2. There's also the time value of money to consider. If that money could have been earning Steem Power if it was powered up or traded with other currencies, that strategy could also lead to a net loss.
Luckily I only had to wait a day to find it out and I only put in a couple of SBD to STEEM.

Boy the price of Steem has sure plummetted since you wrote this.
It uses the average price per day and then averages that to come up with an average for the week. I'm almost one year into creating this report and I think, at that time, I may change up how the averages are done.
