USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the hourly breakdown graphs, I show the USD values using the weighted average for that day. For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I then took the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

Commentary

• Who is @hendrikdegrote and what do they know about Steemit that the rest of us don't? They've dropped a lot of money into Steemit over the past couple months. From one perspective, they are funding this thing.

• @steemit2 dropping 400k STEEM. That's quite a bit. Hurray for redistribution!

• Could this be @dan and @ned's last power down/exchange transfer for a while? If you dive through the comments on the latest Steem Economic Changes Update from @dantheman, they said they wouldn't power down for three months if this new approach gets implemented (3 month power down instead of 2 years). Maybe they read my commentary from early October after all.

• I already resteemed it, but I wanted to mention it here also. If you like this report, be sure to check out @fooblic's STEEM flows report where STEEM and SBD per minute is calculated and displayed. Very interesting stuff.

• If you were following the exchange prices this week, you noticed a bit of a recovery and the total USD amount heading out to exchanges isn't as much this week as it was last week (-$102,285 compared to -$193,797). Could this and the proposed economic changes be a sign of a sustained price recovery? Or could the 3-month power down cause a wave of whale dumps driving the price even lower? Stay tuned to find out. :)
