Exchange Transfer Report: 10/15/2017 to 10/21/2017
USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:
- STEEM: $1.03704
- SBD: $0.96365
Previous Report:
- STEEM: $1.08308
- SBD: $0.96420
Assumptions
Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Commentary
The withdrawal to deposit ratio is back up at 6.99 to 1 with the price continuing to declined.
The amount cashing out this week is less than half a million. That's lower than it's been for a while.
Are the problems we're seeing with steemit.com impacting the price?
A suprising decline in people powering down next week at 79.95% in the green compared to the previous week.

I think the recent issues have had a negative impact on the price, but the unstoppable bitcoin rally is the primary reason for the lower Steem prices we've been seeing over the past 2 weeks.
A lot of liquidity has been sucked out from the altcoin market!
We will probably see a big rebound in alts when the 2X fork is dealt with in
November.
Man I'm gonna go through the top depositors list tomorrow and upvote some of them. I know it sounds crappy but I'd rather give rewards to people who are investing in the platform like I have. I put over $3,000 of my own money here since July and powered it up because I believe in this platform and I want it to thrive. Kinda hard when people are cashing out 7 Steem for every 1 steem that's being bought.
I know I know it's a free market and it's their money but good grief why would anyone sell at these prices? Surely a lot of them are taking losses selling way down here. I'm HODL and I plan to do so for a long time and power up pretty much everything I get. I also plan to keep putting my own money here too. I wanna be a WHALE baby!
Just a quick follow up to my comment...I checked out some of these big buyers’ accounts as I wanted to give them upvotes (ones who have created decent content) and oddly enough quite a few of them are not actively blogging. A couple of them are very new here too. I’m guessing they’re either going the curation route to earn or they’re just holding long term until steem goes up in value.
It’s still nice to see people who have invested so much here. Hopefully I can find a few more who have posts within the past 6-7 days.
Hey, don't worry. At one point Steem was below ten cents and people who bought down there made a huge return. Even at these current prices, they're still about 1000% ahead. You'll eventually be rewarded for your steadfastness. Keep hodling and when the next mania hits you'll be swimming in the dough. Steemit is a fantastic platform and it will be here for a long time. One of the reasons people are cashing out is to get the free coins in the BTC hard fork. When they finish with that trade, money will come rushing back here and into other alts.
Yeah I guess since btc was so much lower a year ago steem price at 0.00016 / btc was more like $0.10 as you said. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I think I’m doing the right thing but it’s nice to hear other people who have a positive outlook on the steem price.
This is spot on! Good on the folks seeing the buy opportunity and investing in the platform! I'm nowhere near this list, but I bought what I was comfortable with this weekend to take advantage of the lowest price I've seen in my time here. Powered it up, and am well pleased!
Love the attitude cryptokeepr! Whale or bust!
Thanks man. It’s good to see others investing at these levels as well. I’m gonna take some of my btg and btc and put it into steem after this btc fork gets sorted out.
Keep on stacking that steem power! Ill continue to do the same
I think the problems we've been having with steemit.com are effecting the price. I don't think it would have been an issue if things for ironed out quickly after the DDOS attack, but it's been a couple weeks now that upvotes don't always go through, or take much longer than before. With many users starting a nervous sweat right after clicking the submit button and thinking "S#1T! Did I copy the most recent edit to my clipboard?!" (I use a word processor now) loss of faith in the dependability of the platform is going to make it hard for the price of Steem to start going up again. I hope this is a strong discussion point at Steemfest2, that more info is given to the users afterwards, and there's a solid solution quickly in the works. FWIW, I'll still be here. Though I'm a minnow now, I'm into steemit for the long haul. But you already know that Luke. I guess a good sign in your report though is that people are still depositing/investing in Steem and the radio's on the up swing this week.
I seriously love these charts and dang some people are cashing out some big bucks here on steemit! Count me in for the max deposits though for the next few weeks ill be ramping things up.
Sounds good! :)

@lukestokes we are looking to add on pullbacks in price....................
When there's blood in the streets, that's when you buy. The few who are putting cash in now will be the ones who win big in the long run. You always want to buy when everyone else has sold. Price has stabilized and my hope and expectation is that it will bounce back in a big way.
Awesome Post !
Great report work
Thx luke. Nice post.. wish I could deposit, lol
I hope you chckout my profile and as a new witness I am also giving 200% to the network.. That's enough commercial for me.. anyhow. I hope you notice me some day and that I can live my dream.
If getting noticed by me is your dream, you need much, much bigger dreams! Hahah. Good luck on the witness campaign. It can be tough getting noticed.
Haha No thats not my dream.. i have one in my witness profile. But that Some others notice me Can help me achieving it.
