This is DAY FORTY NINE of the daily devotional.

I am releasing a 50 day daily devotional about the end-times as revealed in Scripture. Along with the text, I will be providing a video where I cover the text of the day, and @verbal-d will be providing an audio version of it. That way, whether you want to read, watch, or listen, you'll be able to enjoy this study as you wish.

The plan is to release this devotional over the next 50 consecutive days, but life may "get in the way." We will do our best, but please be patient with me if I fall behind.

DAY 49 : THE MESSAGE TO YOU

Since we should be able to understand the time in which we live, and since we have Biblical insight into the days that lay ahead, it is important to read what the Bible says about the end-times as if they were specifically written to you. We know that the Gospel of Mark ends the “Olivet Discourse” with “And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch” (Mark 13:37). If the events listed prior have no purpose in the lives of the believers other than to gain insight into things that won’t occur until after we are all gone via a pretribulational rapture, then this seems like a strange way to end this passage of Scripture. If we are given the instruction to “keep watch” or “keep guard” (the meaning of the Greek word translated as “watch” in this verse), this instruction must apply regarding the previously mentioned events revealed in the “Olivet Discourse.” If it does not, the instruction is irrelevant and irrational.

One important point to take notice of is that Jesus’ disciples asked “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:3b), before Jesus gave the answers contained in the “Olivet Discourse.” My question to you is, “Do you think that Jesus’ disciples already knew that He had come the first time?” Since they were with Him and followed Him, we know that they did. When they asked Him when He would come back, they are asking from the perspective of believers, awaiting His return for them.

This is the foundation upon which this question and answer portion of Scripture is built, so we cannot logically conclude that intended audience is either Jews still awaiting His first coming or “Tribulation believers” awaiting His return for the Battle of Armageddon. The question was both asked and answered from the perspective of believers awaiting Christ’s return for them. When Jesus begins to answer the question, He warns, “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:4b-5). After Jesus mentions the “Abomination of Desolation,” He continues, “Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not” (Matthew 24:23). Based upon what I just shared, it seems obvious to me that according to Jesus, He will not return until after the “Abomination of Desolation,” otherwise people still wouldn’t be looking for Him to arrive.

“Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.” (Matthew 24:25-26)

Something else to contemplate is exactly what these believers will be getting exposed to in order for them to be so desperate that they would be willing to run off in any direction if someone simply claims that Christ is over there. These will certainly be desperate times for the inhabitants of earth, even (and perhaps especially) Christians. These believers will be under such oppression and tribulation and so desperately seeking deliverance that they apparently even forget what we are clearly told in Scripture about when and how the Lord will return. Fortunately, unlike for the rest, deliverance will come for them, just as He said He would. In preparation for these events, familiarize yourself with such passages as if they were written directly to you and heed the warnings contained within.

Point #1: It appears to be obvious that the “Olivet Discourse” and instruction for “all” to “watch” is given even to us.

Point #2: We would therefore do well to obey this instruction and read what the Bible says.

CLOSER

If anyone is really interested, I did post the entire volume through an alt account over a year ago. I did so as an experiment to see how hard it would be for a new user to get noticed on steemit, so I didn't let anyone know that I was doing it. You can click here to a post that has links to the entire 50 days of this devotional if you really want to read ahead. That information has always been available there since I first posted it. It is not the purpose of this series to just copy all of my previous work, but instead to transform it into some new outlets by releasing it in an audio and video format, to broaden the reach that this work has.

Again, though I will certainly never claim to know it all, I do believe that many are being lead astray by some popular beliefs. I hope that this project will be able to help many others understand the end-times more accurately. Thanks!

My upvote also let me be just as successful

it is SOOOO important to try to be ready for what you believe in. I am not a huge christian, but I am a christian if that makes sense? I remember seeing a powerful poster in my Sunday School classroom, it was set at the time of the rapture and a man and his daughter was walking down a street as everyone was getting "beamed" up into heaven while this man did not. He watched as his daughter got sent to heaven without him.
This poster spoke so many words to me and i'll never forget that. I don't think anybody would want to experience what that man did in the poster.

On a side note, completely off this topic of the rapture.

My sister loved going to church Sundays and even more going to the youth group that took place Thursday nights. She would invite her non-christian friends to come on Thursdays as it was more of a service for the younger crowd with more up to beat music and more of a discussion then a sermon. This one girl started to go every Thursday and Sunday with her, and eventually got saved because of my sister. But eventually that one girl started to bully my sister inside the church and at school which ended up giving her no place to go to feel "safe".

It's sad that those things happen when you do so much for some people. It is even more sad that it's probably happening right now somewhere else in the world.

Anyways, thanks for spreading the word @papa-pepper! You rock!

Wow, thanks for sharing all of that!

Mark 13:30-31 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Thanks for Sharing @papa-pepper

This is one of the most difficult concept to understand but you did justice to it in ways that I've never heard before.....

Jesus is coming back real soon...
I'll stand upon my tower and watch and wait for his coming.. Thanks for the reminder sir

You are welcome sir

Can't believe this is day 49 and it remains just one day to complete the series. I pray that God will give us a heart of flesh and remove our hearts of stone to heed his words

·

Amen to that!

1 Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.

Amen @papa-pepper
