This is DAY TWENTY EIGHT of the daily devotional.

I am releasing a 50 day daily devotional about the end-times as revealed in Scripture. Along with the text, I will be providing a video where I cover the text of the day, and @verbal-d will be providing an audio version of it. That way, whether you want to read, watch, or listen, you'll be able to enjoy this study as you wish.

The plan is to release this devotional over the next 50 consecutive days, but life may "get in the way." We will do our best, but please be patient with me if I fall behind.

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joel 2:31)

Before the Day of the Lord, an incredible sign will be given. The sun will become dark and the moon will appear as blood first. The Day of the Lord will only be able to begin after this event occurs. Peter reiterated this fact when he spoke to the men of Judea and those who dwelt at Jerusalem on the “Day of Pentecost.”

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:” (Acts 2:20)

This sign is a mandatory prerequisite that must be met prior to the beginning of the Day of the Lord. Not only is it recorded in God’s pure Word, it is also established by the testimony of two witnesses, Joel and Peter. To the best of my knowledge, the following are the only options we have of this pre-Day of the Lord occurrence actually being recorded in Scripture.

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:” (Matthew 24:29)

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,” (Mark 13:24)

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;” (Luke 21:25)

“And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.” (Revelation 6:12-13)

“And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.” (Revelation 8:12)

Pretribulational “understanding” categorizes all five of these other passages as occurring within “The Tribulation.” They generally either believe “the Day of the Lord” to be synonymous with “The Tribulation”, or as a time that includes “The Tribulation.” Therefore, to pretribulationists, none of these five mentioned events of a darkened sun and moon can be the event prophesied of by Joel and confirmed by Peter, since the event they speak of will occur before the “Day of the Lord.”

Point #1: We are told by both Joel and Peter that before the “Day of the Lord” comes, the sun will be darkened and the moon bloodied.

Point #2: There are five potential passages that may speak of this event recorded within the New Testament.

Point #3: In pretribulational thinking, all of these passages would take place within “The Tribulation”.

If anyone is really interested, I did post the entire volume through an alt account over a year ago. I did so as an experiment to see how hard it would be for a new user to get noticed on steemit, so I didn't let anyone know that I was doing it. You can click here to a post that has links to the entire 50 days of this devotional if you really want to read ahead. That information has always been available there since I first posted it. It is not the purpose of this series to just copy all of my previous work, but instead to transform it into some new outlets by releasing it in an audio and video format, to broaden the reach that this work has.

Again, though I will certainly never claim to know it all, I do believe that many are being lead astray by some popular beliefs. I hope that this project will be able to help many others understand the end-times more accurately. Thanks!

Just in case you are new to this series and wanted to check out the previous audio or videos, here are links to the posts from each day of this series.

Also - A special thanks to @allforthegood for helping design my cover image!

Until next time…

I love this series on end times. One of my favorite subjects...

Great topic... never ending debate though on pre-trib, mid-trib and post-trib. Jesus is coming soon and we shall be with Him forever. What a delightful thought to those who truly believe.

Thanks @papapeper

it is amazing an excellent post of livestock, being the inspiration who read it.

Nice post @papa-pepper

thank you for this lovely post @papa-pepper! The question is this, if the world end now. Are we ready for what comes next?

I have fond memories of listening to a few of my seminary professors chiding each other about their respective pre-tribulation and mid-tribulation positions. I don't recall any of them being post-trib though. Fascinating topic!

I don't believe in "the Tribulation" since it is a term not used or defined by God, but in "the Day of the Lord."

I believe we all need to strive to be in a state where we can be caught up in the clouds with Jesus when He comes and not look forward to being the tribulation saints

nice post.¡regards!

Thank you

I'm glad your achievement in

Well, God bless America!

Nobody can pretend not to see things happening so fast and strangely these days and men are afraid because of what are happening and they dont know what might happen next. This was the same way Noah warned people and they gave glossed away the message God was passing. The more God is trying to wake us up, the deeper we sleep. No wonder, Jesus told the pharisees that they could predict the weather but could not discern the signs of his coming, even the sun and the moon is preparing for the ay of the Lord.
Messiah is coming
Rapture is imminent

I'm deeply thanking you for this @papa-pepper

following your series back here with some friends... the quotations of the bible verses are a good way to show this is real. This message is transforming lives back to God. No one would love to be on the wrong side when the end times reach. Thanks for the message

Post yang bagus

I have now finally caught up with all your studies! Yay! I applaud you for your thorough reading of scriptures, although I still am not in agreement with everything. But, if two of us agree, one is unnecessary. ( Not a biblical quote. Lol!)

This encourages people ( I hope) to study for themselves and not take anyone’s word for what the Bible says. What is important is that Jesus will come again and will not distinguish between those who have pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib or no-trib beliefs. Our salvation does not depend on it, so no one is being “led astray” by pre-trib teaching.

I have been in churches that have taught all four, and all have perfectly logical arguments to support their beliefs. I am old enough now to realize that the more I know, the less I know!

Will comment specifically on this lesson when I have had a chance to really study the passages in context.

Nice little fantasy y'all have cooked up.

I believe the darkening of the sun and the moon filled with blood are just symbolic representations of what will happen. It might be representing total darkness upon earth cos this two I. E the sun and the moon are what brings light to earth.
