Steemit Record Pool // Song of the Day - Get Down by Nas

in #recordpool7 years ago

Before I go watch Black Panther in a few hours here on a quiet day in Kelana Jaya, I was on a playlist and this track came on. I was thinking what I wanted to post for #recordpool that related to Black History Month and Black Panther. At first it was Public Enemy, or was is Paris? Either way it looks like it's been decided!

One the greatest Hip Hop Storytellers, Nas brings multiple meanings to the famous James Brown chant "Get Down" as he weaves street knowledge over pure funk from The Boss.

This post also allows me to share the original by the Godfather James Brown from the movie Black Caesar. Although contributing a song for a "Blaxploitation Flick", James Brown was an prominent figure in the Black Power movement. Here's a clip from the movie featuring The Boss

I think this is probably my favorite Nas track! Or at least the one I listen to most. Probably partially also because of the instrumental and the samples used. Awesome choice!

yeah man gotta love this one. Have you heard the Lost Tapes? That's pretty dope and raw/lo-fi if you haven't checked it..

Yeah I know it! Two more of my favorite Nas tracks are on there: 'Purple' and 'Black Zombie'

That's dope! Looking fwd to it! It's time to put Hip Hop on the Blockchain! As for #recordpool, you can emulate my post as a guide, and just share songs that you think the community would enjoy, or that have personal meaning for you. It's not just a "promotional" tool, it's for curating dope music!

Thanks will do
