Steemit Record Pool // Song Of The Day - Red, Black & Green by Roy Ayer Ubiquity

in #recordpool7 years ago

Horns and vibes, vibes and horns. That's the mood as we wind through a sunny day here in Kuala Lumpur. Back on the #recordpool tip with "Red, Black & Green" by Roy Ayers. If you don't know the man, he's the worlds best Vibraphone player and is one of the most sampled Artists of all time. Oh and I had a chance to see him live in Toronto back in the early 2000's!

Continuing with Black History Month my selection is in the same vein as my earlier Nina Simone post celebrating the Mother Land and embodying those African roots in some very uplifting music. I'm a huge fan of Roy Ayers so this was the logical selection. Taken from the 1973 "Red, Black & Green" album, where you can find gems such as Ain't No Sunshine and Day Dreaming.

Without further ado

Earlier in the post I mentioned Roy Ayers as being one of the most sampled musicians in history, here are a few tracks that sampled "Red, Black & Green"...

Interesting read and it's cool to know the history about songs that's been used a lot as samples.

That's the main idea behind #recordpool is to curate music with our own personal touch to it. Mind you, I could have gone into more depth, but for most people I think this is enough to perk any interest where they can go search and learn on their own if they like the music!

I agree! Especially since it's hard to find time to consume all the great stuff that's out there. So a little taste is better than a long text that becomes overwhelming.

Thank you brostar

You're most welcome @rapoet! Hope to see some #recordpool posts from you soon?

Living legend. Definitely a musician I have to watch live in my lifetime, along with Herbie Hancock, Azymuth, George Benson, Ramsey Lewis...
