There are an increasing number of writing contests here on Steemit and some have excellent prizes that are well worth going after. The problem I was having was finding them in the sea of new posts in the contest tag. You might have been having the same problem.

Now you can simply drop by my blog each day to see what writing contests are going on across Steemit. I really do hope you find it useful.

This is an ongoing post that will be updated each day, with new contests added and expired contests removed. If you’re interested in writing contests, this daily post can be your one-stop-shop to keep updated on what’s new, and what needs to be submitted today.

What’s new in today’s list:

The first thing I want to tell you all about is the Contest About Contests being held by @freewritehouse. Here’s the rules:

Name your contest.
Give a detailed explanation of the rules and how to play the game.
Provide an easy foolproof way to fairly select a winner or winners
Suggest potential prizes that could be awarded.
If your unique idea is chosen to be added to their list of regular contest games you will receive:

5 SBD - shared between all qualified entries and
Half of the SBD payout - shared between all qualified entries and
A chance to win a membership in Steem Basic Income
All qualified entries will be entered into a raffle to win a membership to Steem Basic Income. Considering that all of you are veteran contest entrants I imagine you can all come up with some great contest ideas for this Contest About Contests!

The 24 hour short story challenge - April 3--Topic 11--An airplane lands 100 years in the past
Deadline: 01:00 GMT/UTC April 4, 2018
Description: Write a short story no longer than 2,000 words, based on the topic phrase: “An airplane takes off in present day, but lands 100 years in the past.”
Prize: 5 Steem for First Place. 3 Steem for Second Place And depending on how many entries I receive I may give out Steem for other entries. But again that all depends on the amount and quality of posts.

New Contest! - If you can write 17 syllables!
Deadline: 23:59 GMT/UTC April 7, 2018
Description: Write a traditional haiku (5-7-5) about weeds (yes marijuana is allowed).
Prize: Winner gets: 2 SBD + Half of the contest post's author awards + One free "shout-out" for winning + One free resteem from the contest host for any of the winner's posts. One runner-up gets: One free "shout-out" for winning + One free resteem from the contest host for any of the winner's posts.

Tyger’s Electric Dreams Short Story Contest #1
Deadline: 04:00 GMT/UTC April 11, 2018
Description: Your mission, if you choose to take it, is to write a short story of 1000+ words (no longer than 3000 words). The prompt is Intelligent robots, specifically a story written from the perspective of a robot or AI.
Prize: The winner will receive 5 SBD and 1/3 of the SBD this post may generate. The other 2/3’s will be divided between the second and third place.

Description: Write about one of your biggest mess up in your life.

ZapFic Writing Contest: Tell a story in 232 characters or less (on zappl). Week 6
Deadline: 16:00 GMT/UTC April 9, 2018
Description: Write a story - inspired by the prompt of “Star” - in 232 characters, or less (the zappl limit is 240 but you need to include the tag #zapfic at the end) and post it on Zappl

Fractal Writing Contest #11

Description: Post a comment with something inspired by the fractal image in the contest post, be it just a title, a haiku, a story, whatever.
