And finally, we are standing on the surface of the planet, for which we have come so long and full of dangers way. The planet on which we have to spend more than one month. During this time, we will have to make every effort to learn about this miracle of nature as much as possible.

However, it took us almost a week to move all the Luggage to the research base and distribute the equipment in the offices and economic compartments.

We did not even have enough time to arrange our private quarters, where we had to live all this time.

But everything comes to an end. Gone are the days when we were mainly engaged in economic problems. It's time to distribute responsibilities between the staff base, which joined and the crew of our ship.

This time there were two presiding officers at the General meeting: our ship commander Samuel and base chief Benjamin.

Samuel, the first to take the word, was brief. He said that almost the entire crew with the exception of a detachment of the home guard goes into the subordination of the head of the base.

Speaking after him, Benjamin briefly told us about what his employees are working on, dedicated us to further plans for the study of this planet. Then his Deputy read the order, according to which we were distributed to different departments and laboratories.

In principle, anything new I've not heard, only learned the name of his new immediate superior. To be honest, I was a little upset. Having been in the role of albeit small, but the chief, it is difficult to realize then that you will have to obey someone, to carry out his orders and orders.

On the other hand, I will no longer bear the burden of responsibility for the entire unit. I will be responsible only for what will be entrusted directly to me. Accordingly, I will have more free time. The only thing I was worried about was whether the new management would allow me to continue to experiment with the samples I was working on during the flight.

After the meeting, we went to our groups to get acquainted with new friends. With some of them we were already a little familiar when we worked together on the placement of the equipment brought by us.

In our team there were practically all my assistants. Our supervisor, whose name was Robert, assigned us to the precincts. I got a greenhouse and a small laboratory attached to it. My joy did not end - Yes, I can do my research in my free time!!!

Basic work plans Robert offered to review the next day, in the meantime, relax and arrange his life.

I met with Arthur and bill in the lobby leading to the residential sector. There was Samuel here I couldn't resist asking:

• Remember when you said there was a grounder on this planet? Can you get us a meeting?

• I can, of course, only a little later. While you need to arrange your life, to establish work...

• So we can meet him after work, what's the problem? - I asked incredulously.

• No problem, just this man is now almost on the other side of the planet - in the settlement of aborigines. As soon as he gets back, I'll arrange a meeting for you. In the meantime, let's go up to the roof, I'll show you something you haven't seen yet!

Taking the Elevator, we went to the roof, looked at the sky and froze in amazement. In the sky above us bloomed a real fiery flower!

The spectacle was indeed spectacular.

• How often does that happen? - I asked with bated breath.

• Yes, quite often. The nature of this atmospheric phenomenon has not yet been studied. Our scientists have been struggling for several months to solve this mystery.

• How and over those, that you will see, swing out in on a hundred eighty degrees.

Turning in the opposite direction, we saw an even more amazing picture. Where there is our earth's Northern lights to such beauty!

In the colored flashes, now and then changing shape and color, the moon floated majestically, or could be seen, or imagined some other celestial bodies...

For a long time we stood in silence, fascinated by this unearthly beauty, until the colors went out, and stars appeared in the sky instead of shining.

Looking at a new picture of the starry sky, we forgot about fatigue and hunger.

Samuel's voice finally brought us back to reality.

• Have you seen enough? - he asked with a smile. - I invite you to dine at a local restaurant. Yes, do not be surprised, there is one on the base. Should the colonists and explorers at least occasionally to relax. And to admire the stars you will still have many opportunities.

The restaurant was in the next from the residential wing of the base. It was cozy, twilight reigned, quiet, pleasant music played.

The menu turned out to be surprisingly varied and exotic, at least for us earthlings, so we entrusted our commander to order dinner.

Together with the food and Samuel ordered a bottle of local wine made from grown on this planet experimental plants.

"I guarantee you, you have never seen such aroma and taste anywhere," he solemnly declared. - Before you enjoy it, just take a little SIP and hold it in your mouth.

I had to admit that the taste of the drink was really divine, as well as its aroma.

After a delicious and hearty dinner, we went to the hall and spent some time there talking, sharing first impressions of the research base, which were, and plans for the future.

It was after midnight when Arthur and I went back to our room and went to bed.

Tomorrow will be a different life for us...
