The whole next week we continued to get acquainted with the ship and its crew, to prepare the resources necessary for the flight. There was a lot of work, and we met only in the evenings, but we were already so tired that the strength was enough only to get to bed and sleep, barely touching the head of the pillow.

In addition to organizational and economic concerns, we had to seriously engage in military training.

This happened after the commander of the ship gathered the whole team for a meeting in the middle of the week and briefly devoted us to the goals and nature of the upcoming expedition.

What she was mostly research, we were aware of before, but what we learned from his speech was that travel can be deadly. In particular, he said:

  • We have to make a long flight, including through the territory where the real space wars are raging.

  • The danger is that our ship after the jump into hyperspace, just gets into the conflict zone at the moment when the team is just waking up after kryptosn and will not have time to undergo rehabilitation. That is, to fight back the enemies in the event of an attack, you can not absolutely.

  • We will fully depend on the combat readiness of the biorobot that ran the ship while we slept. Therefore, one of the priorities is to check and adjust the onboard equipment and check its compatibility with the computer biorobot.

  • Also, it is necessary to fully provide it with power. It depends on the maintenance of his life - and performance.

  • Basically, the care of this lies on the shoulders of our new cosmobiologist-with these words Samuel looked at me - but other members of the team should help her as much as possible and abilities.

  • In addition, starting tomorrow, mandatory training is introduced. You will be engaged in both physical and combat training, so that you can, as quickly as possible, undergo rehabilitation and join the battle.

  • Of course, we may be lucky, and we will safely slip a dangerous place. But, as our friends from Earth say: "God protects the Careful one!", therefore, we will take the opportunity in the remaining time before the flight to get into proper physical shape.

  • Any questions?

  • Do you know the departure date? - one of the crew members asked, it seems, the second assistant to the flight engineer.

  • No, it is not yet known exactly when we will have to go on a flight, but in any case, we must be prepared for any surprises.

  • Yes, I forgot to say, a special instructor will hold a lecture, which will tell you about who we can meet during the flight. Who they are, their biological characteristics, technical level, etc.

The next day we started with physical training in the morning. The instructor drove us so that by the end of classes we could barely catch our breath.

After lunch we first engaged in the performance of their duties, but the last hour of working time we spent in the local dash.

In General, the instructor who led classes, was pleased with the results, but said that we should not relax, we need to train so that each of our shot fell into the "top ten".

To be honest, I could hardly wait for the weekend, after such a busy week.
On the first day off, Arthur and I practically did not get out of bed, trying to sleep off.

In order not to waste precious time on cooking or going to the restaurant, we stocked up on the eve of semi-finished products and ready-made food, and only heated it in the microwave.

The next day we took up household chores, of which many have accumulated over the past week. It took me several hours to complete my notes on the last expedition.

In the evening, phoned with Vic, we met with him in one of the restaurants, where we had dinner in a warm friendly atmosphere and exchanged news.

The next week was no less eventful, associated with the preparation of the ship for flight.

By the appointed time everything was ready. We still had a few days left in reserve, during which we could freely dispose of our time.

We spent it to visit our friends, to visit the library and the Observatory again, where we recorded the most interesting information about the location of our Galaxy.

On the last day left before the flight, we together with Vic again visited the arboretum, where I collected the seeds of plants, which I had my eye on last time.

Then flew on the "dragonfly" on his mysterious island, wandered through it, also collected planting material.

  • Why are you collecting all this? Who will take care of the plants, - asked me Arthur and Vic.

  • Like who? I will. I'll take them with me, grow them in the ship's greenhouse and watch them grow and develop. Then, when we get back, I will issue in the form of a report.

  • Why do you need this? Don't you have enough responsibilities? - Arthur grumbled.

But I laughed and said that I was interested, so I will find a little time to engage in their own research.

The next morning we all gathered at the entrance of our ship, listened to the speech of the Cosmoport chief and said goodbye to our friends and relatives.

Among those who came to see us off were Vic and iris, who, by the way, also went on a flight a few hours later. Their way lay in the opposite direction.

Finally we took our seats on the ship. The engines roared, and soon we were in the orbit of the planet, and then abruptly rushed towards adventure.
