Manaia : Orzo - The Island of Love
Orzo is a large island in North Shevarah, separated from the mainland by the Sea of Tears. The city has a population of appoximately 400,000, but it visited daily by tourists numbering in the 10,000's.
People from all over Manaia consider Orzo to be one of the most beautiful and perhaps the most romantic locations in the world. The City of Love gets its name from the legend of Jomas and Amina, a story known by every local in Orzo, and by many in further regions of the world.
It is said that Amina was a princess who fell in love with a commoner named Jomas. The two ran away together and eloped, but after being captured by Amina's father, King Firavus, Princess Amina was imprisoned in a tower and Jomas was exiled to the outskirts of the city. The legend says that Jomas' great love for the Princess Amina drove him to curry favour with the people and with Firavus' enemies, allowing him to rise from commoner to King, dethroning his father-in-law in a bloodless coup. Under their reign as King and Queen of Orzo, an oppressed people were said to have seen seven decades of blissful peace, before Queen Amina passed away and the King died a moment later from a heart attack.
The body of a man and woman rest in a single tomb together under the clock tower in Orzo. The bodies are believed to be that of the legendary lovers.
Due to the legend, Orzo is considered an island of love and romance. Over a thousand wedding ceremonies are said to take place every day on the Island, and it is common among Manaians, especially in the south, to take their intended others to Orzo to request their hand in marriage.
The Island of Love is the only city in Shevarah to have a larger Sobanite population than Kuzian, but in spite of the ongoing war in nearby locations, Orzo has remained peaceful and safe for tourists to visit.
