Manaia : The Continent of Shevarah

The continent of Shevarah consists mostly of two vast deserts - one of ice and snow, and one of sand and rock. Despite the harsh terrain and extreme temperatures at either end of the scale, Shevarah is home to a population exceeding 21 million.

While there is a fairly sizeable Sobanite community in Shevarah, the predominant religion by a hefty margin is Kuzu. The Kuzian community, though divided into several subgroups, are all followers of the Aklatan, the Kuzu Holy Book, believed to be authored by the great prophet Rhamasi.

Like the Sobanite followers of the Libra, the Kuzu faith hails Hehu as the almighty Creator of Manaia and the Great Beyond. However, they disregard Ollivus as the Son of Hehu, believing the Libra to be a forgery and Fenian(Ancient Euchaon) conspiracy.

As the texts of the Libra report Ollivus to have been born in Heir, the uppermost island in Manaia, the Echaon royal family have long since claimed the right to the Northern lands of Shevarah, though after centuries of war the land remains under the authority of the Atras - the Northern King in Shevarah. Some cities on the Northern coast, however, are said to be under Euchaon control.

Many commoners in Shevarah disbelieve the claims that the wars are about the land of Heir, and believe it more likely to do with Shevarah's precious resources: the continent being rich in noble metals, diamonds, rubies, poppies and the wischia cactus, which grows nowhere else in Manaia.

Shevarah is also home to many key Manaian landmarks, including the Devil's pit - A great chasm in the Earth that descends into darkness with no man every finding the bottom, and the weeping caverns of Zeerah - where many suspect the Fountain of Sins and Sorrows, which is mentioned in both the Libra and the Aklatan, was located.

The King in the South of Shevarah holds the title Luner, and rules out of Kimmit. The position is currently held by Luner Hamosch, half brother of Atras Mo II, the Northen King whose seat of power and palace is in Keren.

With war a frequent occurrence, treaties are honoured by the Atras of Northern Shevarah and the Magna of Euchao, ensuring trade routes between the two regions. Neither party has been able to bring the Luner of south Shevarah to the table, and so most trade between the regions is done over sea or through forest routes in the east.
