Manaia : Sherishemi - The City of the Sun
Sherishemi - also known as the City of the Sun - is a city on the Northern shore of Shevarah. Home to a population exceeding 9 million people, Sherishemi is the second most heavily populated city in Manaia after Peresi.
The City of the Sun has a very busy port, and an even busier market, which people from all over the world travel to in search of precious stones, rare metals, indigenous plants, fruits and excavated artefacts from the ruins of the Shevarah desert.
While the lands of Sherishemi may have evaded the war that afflicts the surrounding areas, the population has suffered division in response to nearby violence. The city is home to a large Sobanite community in respect to its proximity to the island of Heir, but has a Kuzu community of at least twice the size. Recent disease between the two communities has led to somewhat of a separation in society, with certain parts of the city becoming exclusive towards members of one religion or the other.
The governor of Sherishemi is Jo, firstborn son of Atras Mo II who rules over Northern Shevarah from his palace in Keren. Jo is largely considered a good man, even by many of the Sobanites who oppose his Kuzu faith. Many attempts have been made by the governor to sow seeds of unity within the larger community, but thus far each method has failed, with some of those failures only exacerbating the problem being addressed. Jo has begun to suspect that someone, or some people, are working against his agendas covertly from within his own ranks.
The City of the Sun is considered one of the five Holy cities by Kuzu pilgrims, who visit the underground temple in the city each year.
