Manaia : The Continent of Euchao

The central continent of Manaia is Euchao. Though it is one of the smallest of the seven continents by landmass, its population is the largest by a great margin. It is estimated that over 33 million people reside within the borders of Euchao, with 8 million in the new capital, Shipeva, and 11 million in the ex-capital, Peresi.

Over 60% of the population of Euchao are followers of the Libra, the Sobanite Holy Book. And since the marriage of state and church in the seventh century, it has remained the only continent to fall under an ecclesiastic governance model.

The ruler of Euchao holds the title of Magna, and serves as both King and high priest. The crown and title of Magna is passed down through the line of first born sons that lead back to Ollivus, the Son of Hehu who came before and will come again to rule over the final generation. It is believed that Ollivus will be reborn as a descendant of the bloodline he himself started, however, there has been dispute for centuries over which bloodline is the correct one.

The current ruler is Magna Luxlow II, from the line of Fox. Though many in Euchao remain loyal to the Winters family and line, and believe that Zebedee Winters IV is the true Magna of Euchao.

There is also a growing atheist population that reportedly pose a danger to the Magna and the current way of life.

Euchao's location has served to make the continent very wealthy through the useful exploitation of trade routes, but the lands are heavily impoverished given the massive disparity between rich and poor that afflicts the continent.

The continent is also home to over 750 theatres, all of which are paid for through taxes and that the common people can visit at no further cost - and that the majority of them do.

In Euchao, magic is forbidden in accordance with the Libra, and punishable by death. Though it has been over a century since someone has been publicly executed for practising magic. The majority of locals no longer believe in magic and ridicule those who do.

The borders of Euchao are well protected. To leave or enter the continent one must have permission from the office of the Magna. The majority have no interest in venturing outside the borders of Euchao having learned of what lies beyond, and having suffered raids and attacks from the North and South too often.
