Manaia : The Mysterious Fortresses in the Wetlands
Mangho and Methusa are Euchaon and Shevaran provinces respectively, located within the Northern region of the Wetlands. Both locations have relatively small populations, below 20,000 people, and both are home to large fortresses of a mysterious nature. The fortresses are surrounded by very large, manned walls and are known to be occupied by military and scientific research divisions, working towards an end that few are privy to.
It's believed by many that the Atras of North Shevarah and the Magna of Euchao are in some what of a race to accomplish something, but the breakthrough they are searching for is largely open to debate.
Theories concerning the function of the two locations range from; manipulating the path of the sun or hiding and experimenting on sky people believed to have originated from another world, to creating advanced weapons or creating super soldiers.
The fantastical nature of many of the theories is testament to how well guarded the secret of these locations is protected. Only the approved may enter through the gate of one of the fortresses, and at both Mangho and Methusa, civilians have been known to be assassinated by archers for wandering too close to the fortress boundaries.
Whatever is going on behind those thick walls, it is a secret worth killing for, and conversely worth sparing lives for, as made evident by the peace treaty keeping soldiers from Methusa and Mangho from engaging with one another in spite of their armies being at war in several other locations throughout Manaia.
