Manaia : King Beris and the 12 Princes of Navasa
Navasa is a city with a busy port in the South of Aneyes, home to a population of over 2.7 million people.
Due to the path of the sun, Navasa has the shortest days and longest nights of any surviving cities in Manaia.
The men of the city make their silver mostly through tree-felling, building ships, working on the many fishing vessels or in the precious metal mines, or through joining the Navasan military which has been steadily increasing in size for at least a decade. Navasa now has one of the most impressive military fleets in the world.
At the port in Navasa, sailors and fishermen tell stories of the great sea serpent that resides in the waters north of Karadam. The crews who never return, and the wreckage of ships that occasionally wash up on the rocks of the southern coast lend credence to the tales.
The current ruler of Navasa is King Beris. He is father to 12 sons through 12 different wives, all of whom died during childbirth. Unlike many other locations throughout Manaia, in Navasa, the line of succession does not fall upon the firstborn child or son, but the most worthy - as determined by the King himself. For this reason, there is an air of competition between all of the Princes of Navasa, and one of animosity between most.
Magic is forbidden in the city of Navasa, and unlike several other locations in Aneyes, practitioners of magic are actively sought for and put do death.
The King is known to be searching for a 13th wife to bear him a 13th son, an agenda believed to be tied to a prophecy received from the mystical seers of Kazemi in the Wetlands, given that his hunt for a new spouse began the moment he returned from his visit there.
