New exchange added: @steemexchanger! Please note this report is for last week (and is a few days old). I was at back-to-back conferences in Florida and Mexico, so I wasn't able to get around to this report during the normal time window (staying up till 2am, building relationships and all).

USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $3.96297
  • SBD: $4.80531

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $3.51352
  • SBD: $3.43141

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Linked Accounts

hitbtc includes hitbtc-exchange and hitbtc-payout, freewallet.org includes freewallet, openledger includes openledger-dex, and binance includes binance-hot and deepcrypto8.

Commentary

  • The withdrawal ratio is still rising at 3.84 to 1. Maybe more accounts are cashing out after the EOS drama and concerns about a competing system in the future?

  • Dan Larimer (@dan and @dantheman) is still cashing out and only has $3.2M left between those two accounts (though he probably has many others). Could we see a significant price change coming once that downward pressure stops, assuming he's actually been selling this whole time?

  • @omit tops the list for deposits for this report with over $100k, but has never blogged or commented. They joined at the end of last year.

  • @zoom comes in second with just under $100k deposited. Looks like they are making SBD via @smartsteem, @minnowbooster, and @postpromoter.

  • Could the recent professional communication by @ned and Steemit bring in more investor confidence? Stay tuned to find out.

Luke! I just talked about your report on my radio show yesterday. We were talking about supply and demand and I referenced the stats I see from this report. Appreciate the info as always.

Excellent! Sorry the last two reports were late. I usually get them done on the weekends, but I've been a bit busy. :) I'm glad to hear these are useful to you and your audience.

A sharp rise in withdrawal to deposit ratio explains a resultant downfall in the same time. May be when the selling is over we can hope for a good bull run. Some of us, including me, need a bull run desperately to meet our economic needs. Let's see.

Dan has been cashing out a lot and has still a few millions left. I don't know if a competitor will rise out of this situation but he is capable enough to do anything in the blockchain space.

Luke, @r2cornell is a really nice man. He's a generous person always supporting newbies. Nice to see his name in deposits.

If you're desperately needing a bull run, you might be financially over-extended. This is a very, very volatile space, so please plan accordingly. I remember watching bitcoin go from $1,200 down to $250. Be careful. Be safe. Get out of debt, save, and only then should we be free to speculate and invest.

Thank goodness I have never been under a debt. I invested from both Steemit earnings and pocket. It's quite a lot of money and I am patiently going through the crash and bear runs. It's okay. Last year, I sold at loss and day traded to almost zero. This year, I am going to be patient and wait for my opportunity. I know it will come.

I have been financially over-extended all my life so far. It is nice to have an opportunity through Steemit and cryptocurrency. I have been able to invest in good projects and I hope to keep some of it invested for the long term. Buying the dip has averaged out some investments for me.

Steem economy is so benevolent. My efforts have been recognized a lot lately and they have paid me some money outside the promotional costs. I must thank you for your generous support. It was you who supported me most when I wasn't much recognized. I continue working hard and delivering value and as a result my financial concerns are diminishing day by day.

Some day, I hope to be able to be to buy a lot of Steem Power and share its benefits with the people here, while also supporting economic needs of people residing in poor regions like Afric and South Asia.

Such an informative post. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the information. Could you please elaborate on the EOS drama and "competing" systems? I wasn't aware of either of those.

Well... It's kind of a long story. From what little I know, Dan and Ned had a falling out (Dan co-founded and created Steemit with Ned) and now Dan is going to build a competing social media platform on EOS. Ned's understandably not too happy about that.

it's great information
all of great recourse
thanks for sharing

Wow, amazing commentary, the prices and top withdrawals and deposits, thanks for sharing this report and this report also reflect the liquidity nature of Steemit, where conversions are so quick and smooth without any hassle. Yesterday we received the update for 2018 vision for Steemit Platform, and everyone is waiting for SMT's. Let's hope for the best for all of us Steemians and thanks for sharing this post with us. 🙂

Stay Blessed.

It's a pretty awesome cryptocurrency project, that is for sure.

It's really profitable if we can guarantee it, but I do not understand how ... if you do not mind please teach me to be successful in steemit.

Nothing is a guarantee. If you want advice on Steemit, I usually send people to this post. I hope it helps you as well.
