Conscious Music you have probably never heard of | #49 | Rye Smugglers - Chili Con Karma
Contemporary media shamanism at its finest - The Chili Con Karma EP is magical trance from Finland with a mighty touch of presence and compassion, Nordic mural-like attention to detail and pure devotion to enabling profound psychedelic discoveries that sparkle and shine as the sonics want to make us move and make it easy to give no attention to the mind. Meditation in sound, just like good psy should be.
This record is something very dear to my heart and I've been wanting to share it in this series for a while, especially because they are so little known in the European psy scene which keeps surprising me when I am on the festival circuit.
The duo keeps creating magical atmospheres with their tracks that carry mysticism, self-discovery and a mighty spark of authentic vibrancy into our modern era, something that seems greatly absent from the majority of music that is being promoted in the mainstream these days. Rye Smugglers' sound is somewhat of a fusion of oldschool goa trance with a variety of modern styles to make for an incredible record to enjoy!
I feel the Scandinavian touch will be pure balm for the psychedelic scene, its music that often tends to play it safe and - despite enormously impressive engineering - rarely tries new things or walks the untrodden path. And while artists invariably get influenced by their musical rolemodels and favorite artists I feel we should never stop innovating in courageous ways.
That still doesn't tell you what this music sounds like I guess, but let me just say: If you dig psychedelics, music with character and soul or simply want to move your body without thinking this EP will work beautifully.
If you are a psychonaut and/or dig psychedelic trance I especially recommend you to take a listen and scratch your head as to why these guys are so much under the radar in the scene.
If you are unfamiliar with psychedelic trance, this record may be somewhat weird to get started with, the connoisseurs among you however will probably love it <3
Since their full release is not on youtube let me just share the intro of their EP and one of my favorite tracks:
Since youtube won't let me embed playlists that actually work you can use the link below to get to the "Play ALL Tracks" playlist. Disregard video titles, this music doesn't really qualify as "progressive" psytrance though it certainly is innovative and paradigm-busting ;)

Hey Jason, thanks for listening man! The list tends to lean on the psychedelic genres but I try to make it as diverse as I can. I should probably start featuring your tracks on here as well <3
Be well dude
