Weston - Pencil on paper - 5 x 7 in.
One day, on our way somewhere, my wife and I stopped for lunch. The service was slow, so I began drawing a stranger at the next table. I thought I was working surreptitiously, but he noticed me. To my surprise, he resumed his pose. I continued drawing; he didn't move.
At the end of the sketch, I thanked him for holding still and offered him the drawing. He got up to leave, introduced himself, declined my offer, and told us that he thought that he had had a date, but she didn't show. "A least I was able to have fun posing for you," he said. Then he left just as our sandwiches arrived.
