Canyon Sketch
Canyon Sketch – Watercolor – 8.5 x 11 inches.
Many artists skip sketches and preliminary studies. I don’t feel I know anything about a subject unless I’ve drawn it, sometimes more than once.
This sketch is the third of several I drew from a narrow bridge above the Bear River not far from where I live. I used to paint rivers a lot. Finding this drawing in an old sketchbook reminds me that I ought to draw them more often.

That sketch makes me to feel the cold running mountain water. Like the way how you showed the sun on the top of trees and long shadows falling on stones. Often the sketches like that help to remind the scene and later to do the full size painting.
Thank you for continuing your Sketches.
You're welcome, stef1. Thank you for your kind encouragement.
Wow, this is really good!
Thank you, thank you!
