Madrid Estanque
Madrid Estanque – Pencil – 8 x 11 inches.
One of the most beautiful places in one of the most beautiful cities on our Earth is the Retiro Park in Madrid. The estanque is a pond where you can rent boats, feed popcorn to the ducks, and watch the Human Comedy.
Pencil on paper and the resulting grays seemed appropriate for a cold day in December with a threat of snow when I drew this scene.

I love this one, from the first glance it looks so complex and difficult to draw. You have so many details, statue, pillars, steps, water and boat but also greens.
On other hand I can imagine that this is a scheme that you quickly captured so that based on it you can create the new painting and tell a story behind with more details and colours. I assume you have hundreds of sketches in your archive and some of them already found their places in your paintings but some still there till their time.
