Daphne sketch
Daphne sketch – Watercolor – 5 x 8.5 inches.
People often frown at those of us who talk to ourselves. This doesn’t bother me because my conversations with myself are silent, in sketches. I envy artists who can make their drawings the way they want them at first pass. I usually need more than one go at it and so I talk to myself by writing notes: “change the color; make it lighter or darker,” or whatever.
I hope this post helps reassure you fellow artists who might be uneasy about making messy sketches and talking to yourselves. To some people, this might me considered to be strange behavior, but that’s OK because if we weren’t strange, we wouldn’t be doing what we are doing.

That is really interesting, as you said we all time to time speak to ourselves. I usually do loudly, of course, when no one there, but actually my husband knows that so he got used to.
I like you way, first I was wondering why you have written "minimise" on the sketch but now I know. It is nice to know that it is not unusual not get a sketch or painting right from the first attempt. As always really love it!
