Fit@40 #30 - The 1000 calorie challenge… just because
Today's thought
So I had this crazy idea last night to burn 1000 calories before breakfast. I've been making an effort all week to burn an extra 300 calories each day however I really wanted to do something to shake up the system.
I've got to confess, when I made my way to the gym I had no idea how I was going to pull it off. I was already feeling lethargic before I'd left my house. By the time I'd reached the gym I was positively light headed.
However once I started and focused on knocking out 50 calories at a time, I knew I was going to get it done.
A lot of training is mental. Our minds are likely to fail before our bodies. Particularly on endurance challenges. Being able to remain switched on mentally is an art. Often our minds want to be doing something else thus any sign of physical discomfort is magnified and seen as a cue to stop. However I made this 1000 calories challenge mandatory.
If felt good to overcome.
So good... that I immediately wanted to follow it up with another challenge. It was 12pm by the time I broke my fast. I was tempted to see whether I could continue the fast until the next day however I checked myself. There is rising to a challenge... and then there is just plain foolishness. I enjoyed my full day of eating today; it felt well deserved!
