USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $4.79688
  • SBD: $5.19634

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $5.57098
  • SBD: $7.04185

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Linked Accounts

hitbtc includes hitbtc-exchange and hitbtc-payout, freewallet.org includes freewallet, and openledger includes openledger-dex.

Commentary

  • The withdrawal to deposit ratio came down again to 2.75 to 1.

  • There's @tostitos again topping the withdrawal list. I'm so curious to know if that's a real brand or just a way for Steemit, inc to move money around and keep people guessing.

  • @gcalex tops the deposit list this week with over $300k.

  • Interesting to see account names like @z8teyb289qav9z. Will STEEM finally be used more as a currency and this is just an example of a pseudo anonymous wallet address?

  • The decline in people powering down next week is 2.46% in the green compared to the previous week (so basically the same).

Is it really worth trading steem? vs powering up?
Any deep opinion?

Well, I wrote a post that may relate as it dealt with owning steem power instead of renting from a vote bot. As to whether holding is better than trading? That's a long, detailed answers. Good traders may beat the markets, but often those who just hold do very well in the long term. If you miss a huge upswing because you're wrapped up in some other trades, you may miss most of the potential gains in a given year.

Wil read it and come back to you when needed .. thanks for reply

Hi @lukestokes ! Its always interesting to see your analysis and check who is withdrawing and who is powering up. It makes me think for reasons, and this makes me research to understand more things. Very appreciated!

I listened to what you said in the panel held by @aggroed by the end, and I totally agree about the confusion on steemit vs. the steem blockchain. Your post about it was great, so hopefully many more people start to understand the difference between them, and that the real power comes from the steem blockchain. That is the start up point in which many developments will start to arise, just like plants from the ground.

By the way, I mentioned you in the new Chapter 8 I posted today!

Chapter 8 of 11: Learning about "How Making Connections & Relationships with Smart and Creative People helps make our way on steemit and make steemit a better place"
https://steemit.com/promo-steem/@gold84/chapter-8-of-11-learning-about-how-making-connections-and-relationships-with-smart-and-creative-people-helps-make-our-way-on

Looking forward to your thoughts on it! And if you can add a short comment feedback on your experience with building relationships on the platform, that will add amazingly to the chapter!

Thanks a lot for all your support in the 11 chapter full steemit guide!

Regards, @gold84

@lukestokes - If I am interpreting the numbers correctly, the withdrawals to deposit ratio came down when Steem price suddenly increased. I guess that shows that people developed more faith in Steemit? When the price started going down again, the ratio increased.
Interesting dynamics.
Thanks for the detailed report. It is also interesting to see that some long time big accounts are withdrawing big sums of money while some large chunks are coming in from new users (relatively)

incredible steemit

I absolutely love these type of detailed breakdowns. Have just started examining the blockchain myself, its so addictive, and at the same time rather voyeuristic !
Cheers for the hard work on a great post :-)
