Chapter Ninety One

"I never thought I'd be the jealous, possessive type," Grayson mused as he and Ary lay on her bed facing one another, each with a handful of cards.

"Rummy!" Ary said, picking up the five of hearts he'd just discarded and placing it on her run of six, seven, and eight.

"Do you know that I called you my property yesterday?" He asked as she picked a card up from the deck and scanned the ones laid out in front of her.

She glanced at him, her lip twitching. "Dori told me. She said you referred to Tyler as the guy who violated your property. We had a good laugh over that...Your turn."

He eyed her for a moment, "A good laugh, huh?" He picked up a card and smiled wickedly, setting down three jacks and discarding the last card in his hand. "I win. Again."

She made a noise of irritation, "I swear you have a horseshoe up your butt."

He shook his head, "It's skill baby, not luck."

She rolled her eyes and giggled, gathering the cards and putting them back in the box.

"I'm serious though, I would never have thought that I would be the type who would care if a guy was talking to a girl I dated...If they did other things I would care only because of how it would make me look. With you I see a guy standing a little too close and my blood pressure rises. And when that guy is someone who had his lips on you at one point? Pure animalistic rage."

She shimmied toward him and put her hands on the sides of his face. "There's nothing wrong with a little jealousy or possessiveness, it's a natural male response, instinctual. But yes, your reaction is a bit more extreme than is called for, only because this is so new to you. You never allowed yourself to feel, really anything, so now that you are, those feelings are bound to be intense. It'll settle, you'll find a balance. I'll help you." She kissed him and he rolled on top of her, deepening it.

When he pulled back he shook his head. "I'm not so sure it will settle, this hasn't settled." He pumped his hips against her.

She laughed, "Yeah, but you've also got male hormones at work with this," she said mimicking his hip pumping movement. "It'll be a few years before that settles, not that I'm complaining, this doesn't ever have to settle as far I'm concerned."

He smiled and thought, I hope you mean that. Because normal male hormones paled in comparison to his, and according to his father it didn't lessen over time. You either had to have regular sex or learn supreme control, and still you weren't making it a week, five days max, and that was pushing it. He supposed it wasn't an accurate comparison to the other things he was feeling and perhaps she was right about him settling as far as those things were concerned. But more due to his ability to trust her than anything else.

He pushed her shirt up and kissed her navel.

"Again?" She asked, bemused, "you've attacked me three times since you've been here tonight."

He brought his head up, "Didn't I just hear you say you weren't complaining?"

She laughed, "You did."

"Then hush," he scolded, dipping his head back down.

No, Grayson thought in agony as he listened to his father, please no. He managed to keep that from showing on his face, but barely.

"We're developing quite a presence on the Asian continent," his father continued, "and at the same time I've struck a deal with a major corporation in Munich. I've dispatched most of my best people to Beijing which means you will be more than just a bystander in Germany. It's fortunate that it coincides with spring break since I know you're dead set on being a part of everything Senior related, and this way you'll only be missing a few days of school. I must admit I am looking forward to that part of your life coming to an end, it's become nothing more than an unnecessary distraction at this point."

He shuffled some papers on his desk and grabbed a handful, coming around it and handing them to Grayson. "Look these over and let me know if you have any questions because before we leave, you need to have them memorized." His father smiled suddenly, clapping his son on the back. "You had a hand in this you know, John Seymour told me you made quite an impression on Natasha Gundzerheit at the Cancer benefit in January. Apparently she convinced her father to come back for the Global Communications conference last week in hopes that she would see you, and it was there that Wilhelm and I struck up this deal. You know Grayson, she is a perfect candidate for a future Mrs. Teller, her bloodline is impeccable. Keep that in mind, though of course you still have plenty of time before making decisions of that nature.”

“Okay," James said as the phone on his desk began to ring, "Get studying and get back to me." He clapped Grayson on the shoulder, giving him one last quick smile before picking up. "What have you got for me Dan?"

Grayson left the study on wooden legs. Two weeks. Two weeks without Ary. He climbed the stairs to his suite of rooms cursing his father and fate. He would have to stick himself in some goddamned whore's body on at least three occasions. Goddamn, sonofabitch, MOTHERFUCKER. They'd been so close…Just a couple more months.

He threw the papers down on his bed and ran his hands through his hair. Maybe they should go now. He did a quick calculation. He had over seventy grand stashed away. Not bad. Not nearly what he wanted but...He sat on the edge of his bed. It was feasible. He'd talk to Ary tomorrow. He nodded firmly. He wanted out of here anyway, every day was a ticking time bomb, every day he went to bed relieved that they hadn't been discovered. He had five days to make plans. They could get it done.

He grabbed the papers and thought about tossing them in the trash, but his father would be expecting questions no later than tomorrow. No, he'd have to keep playing the game, perfectly, if he had any hope of getting them out clean before he was stuffed in a jet to Munich. He took a deep breath and forced himself to concentrate.

The physiology thing actually makes a lot of sense and explains a lot of things. I always keep forgetting that Grayson is 100x of everything that makes teenagers annoying. Ary's such a kind soul, she deserves so much more than what Grayson could offer. I do still think that the game is being played by James and Ary, and Grayson's just a pawn in all of this.

I only just discovered this and went back to read the introduction.

I am amused by how reality uses coincidence to mess with us. So, for the readers of fiction on Steemit, there are two stories being posted with a protagonist in each named Teller (not a very common name).

At least, with regard to how your Teller starts, he is the exact opposite of mine. My Robert (story is of the Fantasy genre) is a softie, a sensitive soul who is also an artist...

Nice to have met you and am glad to see you are such a success. I'd love to see more autthors doing well on Steemit.

Hi Arthur :) I have encountered a great deal of synchronicity since I started on steemit- I will definitely have to check out your story!

I actually just published the first book of my series on Amazon, and I must say that steemit was the catalyst to taking this step. It's a bit quiet here lately, but I have no doubt it will pick up again (when crypto does)

Nice to meet you too!

that what is called a spanner in the works , I would just do a runner now x
