SoS Daily News : news about the State of Steem @ 15 January 2019

in steem •  9 months ago  (edited)

Not so much news to report today after the big Hivemind release yesterday.

Although the STEEM price does seem to be staging something of an upward breakout from its usual BTC coat-tailing.

Maybe the positive buzz of the Hivemind announcement is having an effect...

A New Full Public Node Arrives from @themarkymark

The steem platform is rather short of public nodes. Reliance on the Steemit Inc nodes has been a centralisation issue, and has had a heavy cost impact for Steemit Inc.

Yesterday's Hivemind release, and its reduction in memory requirements for nodes, is a key part of solving the node shortage problem.

Right on queue, top 30 witness @themarkymark is the first to release a new full public node.

Hopefully there will be more to follow soon.

If you would you like to know more about the current nodes you can check @holger80's regular Full Node Update posts...

great stuff @pennsif . tomorrows forum will be on fire. I hope we can stay on topic and not get led away because of the presence of ned.

Certainly should be an interesting one...

@pennsif Here are two important questions to ask @ned during your interview.

  • for exact details on Steemit's cost structure. He said during his talk with @arrgoed that his 800,000 regular Steem power down was not enough to cover current spending ?

  • More details on the layoffs that happened at Steemit Inc. How many people were laid off? 70% of what number ... did they lay of 7, 14, 21 people? How many people remain on staff? What skill sets did they let go? What skill sets do they still have?

You might also tell Ned that it is hard for the community to help him out when he is so secretive. The one man show, closed group narrative they have been running on is flawed.

Thank you for the questions.

I will put forward as many as will fit in with the flow of the conversation and the time Ned is available.

This is some really great info here, thanks for the update! :-)
