"Raising Hell in the Garden of Eden" - More Old Poetry

I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)

Let’s prod the snake
And see if he offers up an apple
Maybe then we’ll wear fig leaves
Comfortably.
Watching Creation create itself
Was more interesting than what
Creation has become.
Putting a name to everything
Is taxing
And I’m tired of trying to explain myself
To beasts that don’t talk back.
Being perfect isn’t fun
But then again, I’ve never had another option
And the snake is the only one
I can talk to.
