"Sin" - A Poem from Nearly 20 Years Ago
I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)
A tequila sunrise with me,
Pass out and heading
Towards better islands.
What does one say to the
Cabana boy
Offering liquor and women
When both are wanted,
But repercussions of both
Have been foreseen many times,
Though constantly sought after
Regardless?
This poor beach chair
Can hardly take the weight
Of the issues
Once thought of, twice acted upon,
And several times regretted.
I can't help but sip from my coconut
As the clouds slowly move in to cover
The light giving me new skin.
And I put up my umbrella,
Expecting much rain this afternoon.

If its an older piece, it only shows, that your talent was well developed all along! I love the little drawing you added in your notebook ✍️
i appreciate that, brother! and yeah, i kept finding some really great images to attach to all the pieces, fortunately. i'm no artist, so i had to borrow someone else's work for each :P
though i never figured i'd ever post these; the pages were mostly for my own benefit at the time.
I wish I could say your poetry sucks or find something to critique but you and your poetry rock @bucho
