"Epilogue" - More Old Poetry

I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)

Slow like honey
And heavy like the moon,
I’ve found myself ungraceful
In countless situations.
There has been a want
Gently overcoming me that
I’ve been coming to terms with,
Forcefully loosening its grip
So that I might take back
Those emotions that have been,
So often, stolen from me
Only to show up at my doorstep
Downtrodden and beaten into submission
Time and Time again.

The funny thing is,
I mind Time and Time mends me.
I find it easier
With each successive mental bruising
To emerge from an ashen wasteland
Tearless
Because so few have been worthy
Of touching the inside.
But Time has a sense of humor,
It would seem.

Time is graceful and elegant
And with a whisper of a voice,
Lulls me to sleep in her hands while
Grinning at my obnoxious snores,
But waking me with soft kisses and
Leaving before I realize it.

She’s been returning, over and over again,
More radiant than the time before
And I’m barely aware of anything,
Save Her,
Each time I pass out in her hands.
