"Untitled, 01.17.06" - More Old Poetry

I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)

I was brought here
gurneyed onto an
ambulance, all warning sirens
and dangered lights
(How could anybody think under those conditions?)
rolled through parting glass doors,
breathless and bruised,
like arms taken into the fold
and forced to forget
via CC’s of Time and Patience.

These halls I walk,
sterile and clean
like sheets of things I used to believe in
glare at me
as I take one step forward,
intravenously soaking in
cautionary chances
with no second glances
back
and I’m signing myself out today.
