"As If Hanging in Dreams on the Back of a Tiger" - More Old Poetry

I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)

I hold these flowers
as if to choke the color out,
a palette of Traveler’s Joy,
Thorns, and A Venus’ Looking Glass
dotted with two Variegated Tulips
like a pair of plump and
Tear Dropped Lips
Ambrosiaed with Celandine,
a Dahlia amidst Helenium.

I choke these flowers so that
I can drink their riddles,
a taste-test for poison,
then pass them onto you.

I am a terrorist of passion
unbending in my faith that
petals ring wedding bells
and I will protest the days you are gone
until the only voice I have left
lies inside this pen or
lay wrapped around this bouquet.
