Smart contracts and tokens are rolling into the station with Steem Engine.

Steemhunt is also on the token trail.

The recordings for the State of Steem Forum #6 and for the discussion with Ned Scott, Elizabeth Powell and Michael Vandeberg from Steemit Inc and Dan Notestein from @blocktrades are now available.

Steem Engine, Tokens & freedomex.io

In another major step forward to bring smart contracts and tokens to the Steem platform developer @harpagon has been working with Steem Monsters founders @yabapmatt and @aggroed to launch Steem Engine...

Steem Engine is a smart contracts side-chain platform for the Steem blockchain. This means that it can execute custom smart contracts based on data published to the Steem blockchain. This allows us to do things that are not currently supported by the Steem blockchain, such as creating custom tokens, or literally anything else achievable with a smart contract.

For a fee of 100 STEEM anyone can now create their own token - no coding required !

@blockbrothers witness partner @exyle was one of the first to create his own token on Steem Engine with the Exyle token...

Tokens will soon be here on Steem with Steem-Engine and a FIAT/STEEM exchange is being developed called freedomex.io

@exyle also reports a new fiat/STEEM exchange is being developed called freedomex.io. The website for FreedomEx badges itself as 'The Smart Media Exchange'.

@exyle mentions that the FreedomEx team are currently working on a partnership with Canada-based Netcoins to provide fiat deposit/withdrawal capability with STEEM/USD, STEEM/CAD and STEEM/EUR.

Steemhunt Tokens

Steemhunt are still on the trail to getting their tokens up and running.

They are now in discussion with Korean exhange Daybit...

As one of its strategic pillars, the Steemhunt team has been discussing how to create the STEEM trading paired market for SMT tokens. These are our goals for an agreement with Daybit:
Listing STEEM and SBD token trades.
Support to list temporary tokens from the SMT candidate projects (such as ERC20 tokens).
Create STEEM-paired market section and swap the temporary ERC20 to SMT tokens.
Support fundraising for SMT projects via IEO (Initial Exchange Offering).

New Steem Accounts Report

@steemcommunity witness partner and data expert @paulag has released the latest edition of her regular 'New Steem Account Reports'.

Her analysis suggests that Steemit Inc has now cleared the backlog of new account setups that had built up in December.

The data also shows, that despite the introduction of account creation tokens in HardFork 20 allowing others to create new accounts, the large majority (c 90%) of accounts are still created by Steemit Inc.

An Alternative Front End for DTube

Developer and DTube enthusiast @vaultec is building an alternative front end for DTube.

The project badged as dtube.network includes provision for permanent storage of dtube videos using a P2P storage network, called 'permanente'.

dtube.network is starting with a higher beneficiary fee (25%) than dtube (10%) to cover initial costs but it hopes to reduce that in due course.

Spotlight On The Artist

MSP Waves music show Spotlight On The Artist has just clocked up its 25th episode and is now moving up a gear.

The show hosted by leading lights of the Steem music community, @d-vine, @onemedia and @darrenclaxton, has now set up its own account @spotlight.artist and is seeking delegations to help it support the musicians, songwriters, producers and music based projects that guest on the program.

They have already received a 20,000 SP delegation from music supporter @mariusfebruary.
