The Steem Virus
This image originally said "Bitcoin" but it's been a phrase that has been uttered a few times per year for the last half a decade at least and it's been quite true so far. I figured it will probably fit to Steem as well, we might have the "fighting part" still ahead of us.
I realize a lot of people don't really care about decentralization. Don't care about being the only person owning your account in a mathematically secure invention. Don't wanna go through the hassle of registering on exchanges and figuring out how to cash out. It's alright though, every innovation takes it's time no matter how great it is. Sure that time may have decreased in this day and age compared with other previous big innovations but similar to that this tech can't be compared. Maybe it could be compared a little bit to Android since it also is open-source such as Linux, but hey that's Operative Systems on computers and phones, clearly they are more important than your value as a human, oh wait.
At one point though, sooner or later, with the problems of current centralized giants showing us their weak points, their greed and their scandals. These things are heading towards each other at an accelerated speed. How many people are required until an avalanche of word of mouth starts happening, remember how quick shit can go viral? Welp, you better be ready your back-end can take it. You better be ready your security is top notch. Some times these things only require one ignite to flame up a whole new section of this new internet at a time where social media is wasting more and more of our life while leaving us with information of which company has put the most money into advertisement. Constantly addicted for more, faster, better but constantly leaving you feeling empty inside.
The next few years will be some important ones, it seems as if we as a blockchain have taken our first steps as a toddler and learned how to communicate, now we're getting ready to run without breaking a sweat. That may have been quite a weird analogy, I'm basically saying we can take the traffic and the team has focused on scalability. It would suck if steemkitties or rogerverspam were to clog up our blockchain, wouldn't it? It's going to be interesting to see how Steem's economy will spread all over the internet and the effects it will have. I'm happy to have joined this experiment as early as I did, they will probably happen often and in different universes/forks, but the first one is always special. :)
Who's to say how our platform will evolve over the years, in the end we will still have won cause there isn't someone in charge of our future who's only looking to profit for themselves.

I hope for the best, but we must vigorously fight the negative elements that would hurt us, the spammers, trolls, self-appointed police and their bots. Users who are here only to disrupt and bully others. There are other issues of course, but these I am focusing on right now.
For sure, remember that Steem has a clear advantage in these matters over other platforms that are infested by trolls. Here anyone can police in their own way, the incentives for downvoting may not be the best right now and come at a great risk of the account doing it gets bullied by bigger ones, but hopefully somewhere down the line we will figure out the right mix. At least we incentivize people not to be trolls to begin with and work on their account and its reputation instead for the long haul, but there are always a few that stick out and will just troll for trolling's sake.
Thank you, I am hoping for the best, being the eternal optimist. I don't care about the value of steem or how best to get votes - I care about my fellow artists in this case, and hope that we have a better community without backbiting and stalking. Artists are sometimes their own worse enemy, so really, to be beaten down, they don't need any "help" from the outside, they are pretty good at beating up each other and themselves. That's the nature of the beast.
Yep. I'm optimistic about the technology behind steem and steem itself tasting the fruit of win. We will surely win the race, maybe in 5 years. Who cares! I'm personally trying my best to increase my stake in this bear market.

I feel we are our own problems. We might have overhyped blockchain technology far above the extent we have found it useful yet. Which can be frustrating when people come in only to discover it doesn't offer that smooth transition from what they're used to and it's not as effective yet.
Exchanges? DPOS? Private keys? TX hashes and code scripts? We do realize not everyone gets to be a geek right? And we do realize that the internet is made up of more people who just want to mind their businesses, make simple transactions or post pictures of their cats easily without having to worry about excessive liquidity or some blockchain mumbo-jumbo, right?
There's still a lot to work on, a lot to learn. We need more dapps and front end that can effectively copy or imitate some of these centralized ones in workability and use. We don't have to always innovate things from scratch completely. If it works without problems, it sure as hell will work again. Start off innovation by getting everyone on the same page first, then work our way to the vision with time. So, more dapps with more human-readable features that can offer that smooth transition to the new technology, ease of use and effectiveness. And until these things fall in place, mainstream adoption will continue to stall.
On steem, we're extremely lucky to have a blockchain that's well beyond its time. We've been here for over 2 years and without major fixes or upgrades for a while, even with that, Steem beats over 90% of the "new generation" shitty blockchains out there. It's now up to us to make it what we want it to be. To build an economy out of it. I see a lot of potential and I'm happy to be a part of it. I might not have started with ninjamined coins, but I've worked fairly hard on here to earn a few stakes. And I'm willing to use a part of those to support whatever brings "sustainable value" to steem.
