Here is the thing about DPOS

in #busy6 years ago

DPOS stands for Delegated Proof of Stake...

Once in a while watching the community battle, flag, argue, take punitive actions against each other... When we should be focused on building the community, building the apps and building the price, we spend a lot of energy fighting with each other.

Then I have a new idea about what DPOS stands for:

It stands for Dumb People Own Stake.

While I love crypto some days I miss the days were people cared more about skill and ability than stake.

I remember very early on when I still didn't know anything about crypto some guy was saying Whales would be the executives and Dolphins middle management and the minnows would be the workers.

It sounded like a dumb idea. Immediately, I thought... What if those people aren't good at that?

That moment flashes before my eyes once in a while on Steem.

I think most of our stakeholders are actually intelligent, but highly intelligent people often mistake intelligence for being good at business and other things...

Really, people who are good at people are good at business, because people manage money.

Hey stakeholders, if you are reading this... I didn't mean you... I meant that other guy..

Your balance is below $0.3. Your account is running low and should be replenished. You have roughly 10 more @dustsweeper votes. Check out the Dustsweeper FAQ here: https://steemit.com/dustsweeper/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-faq

More like: Whales would be noblity and Dolphins knights and the minnows would be the peasants.
For me, I'm just a jester.

At least things seem like they are shifting from the focus of some stakeholders. The focus on short term gains are slowly shifting toward longer term gains from projects focusing on solutions to low activity and retention which would ultimately lead to more value of the stakes involved.

After reading this comment and seeing this picture I can't help, but think some whale is letting out a big sigh of relief thinking whew I'm glad he didn't mean me.

Yeah, it was a dumb idea. Instead we have to create the infrastructure to hire people who are good at curation to curate and actually fucking earn for it rather than doing it for free and then everyone acting like if it's their job to work endlessly every fucking day. Then we can all vote on the shit we like from the shit they find and decide is good content. Then the whales and delegate Steem Power and get paid for their delegation with a percentage, which is more than they would get working on their own to curate.

I guess you have your own meaning now for dpos. I don't even for once believe that maybe dolphin for management or minnow for workers, I believe all of us are the workers and all of us also have a part to play in

You and your pesky eloquence! lol

The huge stakes of whales and dolphins should be used in promoting valuable content on the steem platform and encouraging minnows to grow as well . By so doing they will be adding values to the community which will help in bringing more people into the steemit platform. Dpos is good if it is used by those bigger accounts holders to promote the platform which will also lead to the increase in the price of the crypto coins because more people will come into the community which will lead to a high demand for the crypto coins.

I think most of our stakeholders are actually intelligent, but highly intelligent people often mistake intelligence for being good at business and other things...

Yes, there are different kinds of intelligence.
