Pimp Your Post Thursday Report #5 -- From Nov. 16th PYPT

in #pypt6 years ago (edited)

What a great turnout for yesterday’s PYPT. I wasn’t able to be present for the morning session, my thanks and appreciation to @seablue who also recruited @molovelly to lead that session. When I returned and had a look through the presented posts, it was clear that session was well attended as was the evening session.

Your attendance and finding value in sharing your posts is what makes it worth the time and energy to host the events. Thank you for your presence.

So, why was I absent from my post in the morning? I’ll share that in a separate post this weekend. I made a personal commitment when I set up PYPT that I would treat it like any offline meeting I attend, and I attend a lot. Yesterday was an exception. Some of you already know.

The purpose of PYPT is for Steemizens to bring along a recent post, share it with the assembled and talk about the post and their blog.

Here are the posts that were shared.

UPVOTE BOTS - Your Discretion To Use

@anaman led off with his post about the voting bots on Steemit with a good summary of how they work and some points to be aware of when using them. Bots are controversial in some quarters on Steemit, it’s good to see posts which describe them without judgement. People can make their own choices.

How to Make Delicious Honey Corn Muffins & Chili Gluten Free!

@clove71 shared a post with her recipe for gluten free honey corn muffins. She suggests pairing them with chili which is a really great idea with cold winter days coming on or have arrived in some parts of the world. She’s posted some great photos of her process too.

First Visit to Minneapolis- A Splendid City, Even in the Cold!

What a perfect segue talking of the cold for @ethandsmith’s post about his visit to Minneapolis. A very detailed sharing of his visit right down to the pictures of some of the dishes he enjoyed while visiting and his visit to the central library. Very well done.

Christmas Cards

@guiltyparties was up next with a harbinger of the approach of Christmas. He’s wanting to get the information out that if you send him your name and address, he will send you a Christmas card. You don’t have to use your full name, just your first name. No, he wont send to your Steemit name, fuzzy butt might look rather odd on an envelope making its way through the Canadian postal system.

Mist Of The Highland Hills 430.65 Hz #originalsong #creativecomp

One of the things I love about doing the PYPT is when a new person joins and I get to find new talent on the platform. I’ve never seen @hz432creations posts before. The piece he has posted here is lovely, very haunting music and I could almost visualize it coming from the hills. The response from those in the chat was very positive and inspired some to check out his other material. Very nice.

Rhoda Goes To The Grocery Store

It seems that @molovelly has been inspired by @tattoodjay and is taking her bookworm friend to ever more places. A delightful post about Rhoda’s adventures at the grocery store.

The Reconciliation - A Veteran Story

@rodeo670 is known as SaipanDamashii on discord. If you can read this post without at least one tear coming to your eye, you are one hardhearted bastard.

It takes a veteran of conflict to truly describe and talk about the effect of those conflicts on the human psyche and @rodeo670 has done so with raw, unvarnished honesty. Finding healing in being able to connect with someone on the other side of the conflict and sharing with perspective from both sides. Awesome post @rodeo670.

Our Adult Chickens and Future Breeding Plans

@sargento presented this post of @rakkasan84’s, a veteran and homesteader. He’s written a piece about the chickens he raises. Nice photos and excellent descriptions. If you drop by the Duty Hut discord you’ll find him there as Doc. Really nice guy. Maybe we’ll get him into PYPT one evening.

They are one of the toughest military forces that exist, but...

@sargento aka @sgt-dan shared a meme he had recently created which plays on the stereotype of the super polite Canadian. After the amount of time he has known me, I’m surprised he still thinks that :). Cute meme and the first part is without a doubt true… the punchline… well you just never know.

James Allen's Daily Meditations: November 16th

@seablue shared @jamesallen’s post. This is a daily meditation from the book published in 1913, "James Allen’s Book of Meditations for Every Day in the Year". The book is in the public domain and the messages in it are every bit as valuable today as they were back then. This is a series you should follow if you are even a bit of a thinker.

Dancing on my Own by Callum Scott - a Killerwhale Karaoke Contest Week 15 Entry

@rodeo670 aka SaipanDamashii shares a post which shows another side of him after the gut-wrenching earlier post. This time he’s taking part in a karaoke contest. That takes guts. I love watching people do karaoke but never have the nerve to take part. Well done @rodeo670.

Top Ten List! Moonbot curation post. Week 1.

@swolesome is part of the new moonbot initiative on STEEM, a subscription based voting service. He’s added a feature where he curates the posts that have been published and the service has voted on and created a top ten list. Nicely done @swolesome.

To check out the service just visit @moonbot.

As he often does, @seablue found and shared a couple of Steemizens who are for the most part, under-noticed:

@themadgoat — You'll laugh or your money back

And

@thewisesloth — The Wise Sloth blog contains editorial, philosophical, instructional, inspirational and satirical posts in the form of essays, lists, comics, and fiction.

Descubre el Mundo con @the01crow "Filipinas" / Discover the World with @the01crow "Philipines"

This post is a bit different, it’s a bilingual post presented by @the01crow. @the01crow is from the Philippines and writes in his own language with English translation. Nicely done @the01crow.

How many Blessings do you have on you?

@rebeccabe writes a short post that reminds us of the many blessings we can and do receive in this cryptocurrency world. Even the writing of a post is creating wealth, no matter how small at a time.

It was interesting the momentum the sessions seem to be gathering. While I wasn’t present for the morning one, I did notice that several people gathered early for the evening session and chatted among themselves before we started. Really nice to see.

Introducing: Steem USA - 1600SP Giveaway

@topkpop presented first bringing us word of the formation of @steemusa as a gathering point for American and US based Steemizens. They are kicking off their debut with a contest that will see a total of 1600 SP delegated for a month. Check it out.

2 Pieces About Family

@steemitgraven29 continues to show us the diversity of his writing with these two pieces, one prose and the other poetry. Nicely written.

Rhoda: The Birth Of A Bookworm

Well, we met Rhoda the Bookworm in the grocery store this morning. Now @molovelly shares with us how her bookworm friend came to life. Nice post.

The Fate of The Furious Review.

@knowledges has written a very detailed review of this movie. Interesting reading.

The window of my soul

@lmir1965 presented her poem about family written in both Spanish and English… very nicely done.

Remember The Love We Once Had- Africa

@anaman is part of teamghana and stays up very late to share in PYPT. This week he presented a poem about Africa which expresses his desire for peace and love among his fellow Africans.

Bitcoin currently selling at $13,000 in Zimbabwe

@andrekweku shared his post reporting with the current unrest in Zimbabwe with what appears to be the end of Mugabe’s long dictatorship that Bitcoin is selling at almost double the value on world markets.

#Community goals: how we define them and stick to them on Steemit.

@jakemore presented his posts on his views on the Steemit Community. There are aspects of his post I disagree with but tend to understand they come from his own experience. I must say I was really surprised at one of the names he gave as helping minnows. Might be something there I don’t know about this person.

My Painting: The Discovery

@nichi has shared with us before and this time was just as awesome. She’s a very talented painter as you will see in her post. Just fantastic work.

Bahbahra’s Buddy Contest (week 5) 5 SBD in Prizes

@tattoodjay shares with us the next installment of his really fun contest he has been running with his friend Bahbahra. If you haven’t seen this before, you’ll meet Bahbahra in the post. Jay shares the winning entries for last week and introduces the new theme. Have some fun.

new shoes in the NBA

@edward-faako aka faako in the chat presented his post on the new signature shoes for the NBA this season. He’s a big fan of basketball and notices the shoes among everything else.. Nice work faako.

Fictioneers Conflict Prompt / Man vs. Society -- "Broken"

@geke shared with us her entry into the Fictioneers conflict prompt over at The Writer’s Block. A beautiful crafted piece contrasts the economics of war and destruction with the human costs. Well done.

What if you could pause time? ( short story )

@poeticsnake aka Snekky shared with us her piece on the premise of what if you could pause time? What could be different? What could be changed. If you’re not going hmmm… by the time you finish reading it. Read it again.

Steemit promotion In Ghana

@jeeandmee aka sessie presented this post on how teamghana is promoting Steemit. It’s a rapidly growing community on Steemit and they are working to grow it more.

🎤 🎧 Ma1neEvent Interviews Show Recap 11/15/17 - Voice Chats with Three more Steemit Members! (Audio)

I was pleased to welcome @ma1neevent to PYPT. @ma1neevent hosts a radio show on the PAL discord on Wednesdays evening on which he interviews Steemians so the community can get to know them better.

He shared the post from his latest show Wednesday evening where he interviewed @Gmuxx, @tinypaleokitchen and @reko. You can listen to the interviews if you missed them.

He also extended an invitation to any Steemian who would like to come onto the show. It’s not as daunting as it sounds, more like a chat between two people.

Fallen giant (original poem and art)

And next up was none other than @tinypaleokitchen who shared her post of her original poem and her painting and the story behind the painting. Lovely post and beautifully written.

"Your Dream Life Doesn't Happen by Accident"

@sargent shared this post by @moderndayhippie about making your dreams come true by setting your goals and working toward them every single day.

A letter from YAH founder @SirCork: YouAreHOPE Foundation's charitable practices and the "business" of "charity". Accountable & Transparent. Ethical & Principled.

@SirCork shared his post, a rather long post, about the process so far, his concerns and where he wants to go. Most importantly, he wants to tell you about how you can help and contribute to the project. It’s a great cause, using the blockchain to bring hope and help to those in impoverished places on earth through Steemizens on the ground in those places.

KillerPix📷Contest #10 - 20 SBD In Prizes!🏆- Submissions Post (💦Plus Winners From Last Week🌊)

@tattoodjay presented @killerwhale’s post about the Killerpix contest. A weekly photography contest. Check it out .. Some quality work over there.

Legends of the Old Gods - Chapter 2

@steph4nus aka Stephanus shared his fiction story. Not to give away too much but as @sargento said… that story just served notice on Stephen King to watch out. Well worth the read.

The Dancing Dreamers - Meet Donna Charlie, India's Rising EDM Star

@rodeo670 aka SaipanDamashii then shared this post in which he provides a review of Donna Charlie who he considers to be a rising electronic music star on Steemit.

#2 Humans Of Steemit : @molovelly

Last but not least, @molovelly shared @ashleykalila’s post of her Humans of Steemit project. Now here is your opportunity to learn about one of our regular contributors to PYPT right from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. She’s nominated yours truly and @ashleykalila has sent me the material. Going to take some thinking about. I’m not really known as an open book lol.

#Conclusion for Today

WOW, that was a lot of reviewing and reading BUT that’s okay. I spent some time because we’ve had some really great posts and profiles shared on PYPT and they are worth taking the time to read over and get a sense of.

Until Next Thursday… keep on posting.

Don’t forget, you can visit the Steemit Ramble discord at anytime. When you share the post of another Steemizen in the nominate-someones-post channel you will get access to another channel nominate-your-post. I regularly review those two channels for potential posts to share in the Steemit Ramble.

If you are two busy to share, there is a post promotion channel. I might look in there some day. Steemit is about sharing and building community.

thank you for being there @geke ... and yes we sure do meet people we'd not likely come across.
