Introduction
Welcome to the 131st edition of #traveldigest! Enjoy!
As always all posts featured here will be put on our Editors Choice Map.
Hi. It's @choogirl here. Well, I went to my steemit meet-up last night but then it wasn't. It was about blockchain regulation instead. It was interesting enough but I'm not sure it's SWM worthy. So today will not be the day I add anything to the map.

#1 Hiking up Snežnik Mountain, Slovenia
@poss starts us off today with a hike through the extreme cold in Snežnik, Slovenia. After convincing a friend to come with him, they head off to the mountain. Although things start out ok, once they get past the trees the fun really begins; 50–100 km/h winds, -11°C temperatures, and deep snow. It was a long 45 mins of walking, with many short breaks. When the fog came in, they didn't exactly know where they were going but continued on and eventually found the refuge hut 10m below the summit. Although hoping for clear views from the top, today wasn't their day with only 50m of visibility.

#2 Hiking to Peanmeanach Bothy, Scotland
Sticking with the 'extreme hikes' theme, @loic.ronsse takes us over to a remote part of Scotland's west coast to find deserted village ruins and Peanmeanach Bothy, where he will spend a few nights. Almost from the start his shoes and feet become wet and cold from walking through the boggy terrain, but he continues on, stopping to take drone footage of the amazing scenery around him. Finally he reaches his destination where he can build a fire and dry out. He spends a few days exploring the area and taking even more video and drone footage, before heading back to civilisation and central heating.

#3 Street art, Melbourne, Australia
Lastly, we head down under, where it's summer and @nickmorphew is under no threat of freezing to death while he strolls through the inner Melbourne suburbs of Collingwood and Fitzroy. As he wanders the streets and alleyways, he stumbles across all kinds of amazing street art. Then, after pointing out several vegan restaurants in the area, he indulges in some yummy looking vegan junk food before noticing that animal rights activism is alive and well in this part of town. Finally, he heads to a local comic store to look for art in a form that he can take home and put on his coffee table.

Thank you so much @choogirl for featuring my post. It means a lot to me. A lot of time and effort went into the post! And not counting the actually freezing cold hike! :)
You're welcome! Looked like an epic adventure. Not one that I would take on, that's for sure. Pretty sure I would be one the people that dies.
Hehe! If you ever come to Slovenia and would like to see our mountains from first hand, let me know! I promise that it's not always like this! :D It can be really hot in summer time.
I'm much better in summer. I don't really do cold, or winter, or snow.
very interesting!
Y'all rock for putting this together and keep it going. Means a lot to me to see those nominations. Someday I'll be in the top spot ;)
Thank you! We do try and highlight new authors rather than focus on the same ones all the time so there are always opportunities to be in the Top 3.
No doubt! I don't envy you the job of choosing. I'm just always happy when it happens to me. And excited to see when it happens to others. Like getting tapped on by a large curation trail :) It needs to keep on moving and encouraging others. So much potential on this platform that needs to be nursed through the minnow stages. Always appreciated when y'all come calling :)
