Visiting Blue Mountains Australia

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hello dear stemmit community

Today I show you a day-trip during my stay in Sydney ,Katoomba, around one-hundred kilometers far from Central Business District. Easy to reach by train or by car. and the Blue mountain national park which is nearby. Why such colour blue? Well because its blue haze which is always present and constant varying in intensity It is different than that found in any other part of the world.

This phenomenon was first investigated by Lord Raylegh and took the name of “Raylegh Scattering” . The cause of these scattering rays of light is the contact with thin dust particles and droplets of oil dispersed from eucalyptus trees in the valley.

The first official use of the name “Blue Mountains” referred by the Captain William Pateson of New South Wales Corp in his report he described his attempt crossing of the mountains through the Gross River Valley in 1793.

The first spot to see in the valley of the Blue Mountains is the Echo point. Home of the three sisters an uncommon rock formation one the best known site of the national park.

According to Gundungurra dreaming these are their name “Meehni” “Wimlah” and “Gunnedoo” . Once they lived with Gundungurra people in the Jamison Valley. The maidens were in love with three brothers from the neighbouring nation of Darug people, but their marriage were consider unlawful by both tribes.

The brothers were warriors and decided to take the maidens by force. Tribal war forced the Kuradjuri of the Gundungarra people to turn the sisters into stones. His intention was to restore them after the war had ended but he was killed in the battle. He was the only one who could break the spell. To this day nobody has been able to break it and turn these three sisters into their normal form.

Love the Blue Mountains. My cousins grew up in Wentworth Falls and we spent a bit of time in Katoomba and hiking around the 3 sisters. It was not quite as built up and commercial back in the 80s.

Thanks for your comment Well I supposed that it was a bit different in 80's I just can imagine it. Anyway I think it is very nice. I love it as well

It will always be nice, with that spectacular view.
