Museum of soldiers of Afghanistan and the great Patriotic War. Kiev.

The story is eternal. Who does not know the history of his country, he has no future... Such or approximately such an expression I heard from elderly people who had been through the war seen it all, participated... I thank God had a chance to talk to such people, to hear stories about many things. The history of all mankind, countries, cities, is very interesting and sometimes sad.

One day I was in Kiev, more precisely in the Museum of the great Patriotic War (WWII). Nearby is a huge monument "Motherland", but the monument will tell another time.
This Museum was opened in may 1981, even symbolically, as the victory was in may and the opening of the Museum also had this month. Around the Museum Dnepr, which captivates its picturesque views, and the building is located on the Pechersk hills. A place for the complex of the second world war is very well chosen.

Before building this structure, the relief surface was specially changed. The area of the Museum complex is huge, more than ten hectares. This includes a huge monument with a shield and a sword in his hand, the Museum and the Alley, walking along which you can see on the plates carved names of cities, as well as many sculptural buildings of military subjects. There is also an exhibition of military equipment in the open air, burning fire, which is called "Fire of Glory". A lot of interesting things, military weapons, fighters, tanks, helicopters, planes that took part in the Afghan battle and other battles.

An atmosphere of anxiety and fear. Don't know how the Museum works on other people, I was nervous, because he saw all these events that I have not seen, but clearly imagined. Besides all these stories of my friends who have been to war, seen it all... Here and there in my thoughts this puzzle, was visualized something terrible...

Inside the Museum I did not take photos, as shooting indoors is prohibited, but I will briefly tell you what you can see there. Imagine 16 rooms, each room about five square kilometers, and each room has attributes, documents, military ammunition, personal hygiene items, orders and medals, and so on, a lot of items, more than 15.000 thousand. All this is perceived on some level the feeling is that if these items are under glass, but I guess that comes from them the smell of war, gunpowder, blood, tobacco smoke and earth, and ringing in the ears an accordion and the song Blue handkerchief... Such was my condition, fear, emotional pain, loss of something or someone native and the joy of victory, all at the same time.

War, tragic events, historical documents and facts-all this makes an indelible impression on every visitor. When I left the Museum complex, I wanted to breathe as much clean air as possible, look at the sun, grass, the vicinity of the Dnieper. I couldn't help but think that life is beautiful, I thought many of us were worried about such things and didn't pay attention. Most importantly after all this life, the world and the clean the sky over head...
