Day 330: 5 Minute Freewrite: Friday - Prompt: You walk through a door - what do you see?
Be Generous!!
Now is the time to step up our effort to help @cefralelo. Her surgery was scheduled for September 7th and got delayed to the 14th and now, she got an infection and the new date is Wednesday! Inflation is real in the country. Please, keep upvoting her posts as much as you can and keep some Steem handy in case she needs some more last minute funds...
I am going to post every day. I know the payout will not be in time, but I have advanced 130 Steem from my own funds already. I will replenish my wallet with the future payouts and am keeping Steem ready in case she needs more. We have come a long way and I want to make sure that this will happen.
A Huge Thank You to All of You That Already Have Taken Action!!!
It really is restoring my faith in humanity to see you all stepping up and helping those in need.
If you are not familiar with our effort, here is the first fundraising post. expired - do not vote on it.
@cefralelo's post explaining her situation

Here is @snook's excellent tutorial on how to join our freewrite adventure
And @improv's input:
Two things I do a little differently. I just type "timer" into google and it pops up a 5-minute timer. I also type directly into steemit. I also rarely use a photo, don't I? So that's three things.
Please read, comment and vote (if you have voting power) on each others freewrites as much as you can. Especially if you are new to the platform, you will be surprised how many friendships are formed by reading and commenting on each other's work!
Let's Do Community!!!
As many of you know, we have a Spanish speaking Freewrite effort going on. The fearless leader is @latino.romano who is putting a lot of effort into building the Spanish language community. Thank you!!
But that is not what I want to talk about today. I want to talk about Venezuela.
If you listen to the news at all, you know that the country is having a lot of difficulties right now - and many are suffering.
I know that we can't change the country or help all that are suffering right now. But we can help our Freewrite Community members - at least a little bit.
Please, upvote the following people as often as you possibly can!
@corderito
@milrosas
@cefralelo
@larryparra
@lilianmacias
@oscarina
@jakim7

We are thinking of doing a collaboration workshop on how to get a manuscript ready for publishing. Let me know if you are interested - both, to either share your expertise and/or to learn...
If you have a business on Steem you want to share, let me know. I will start a dedicated section in the resource portion of the prompt posts.

Writing help
A free app: Grammarly. A lot of us are not native English speakers and I am finding it a helpful app. It will underline spelling and grammar mistakes. Just remember that is is not always right -especially if you use complex sentence structures. Here is the link
Remember The Most Dangerous Writing App. You set the time - 5 min - and start typing. Don’t stop!!! It will destroy what you wrote if you stop for more than 3 seconds - and backspace does not count as writing on the app. If you are prone to stop and think - this app forces you to keep going. You can make corrections after the 5 minutes are over.
A timer. Egg timer is a free tool you can use on your desktop to set a time. This is useful for our freewrites or if you want to work in blocks of time and then take a break. Here is the link
I found this app through @emwalker. Use it regularly and it will help you type faster and more accurately. 10 fast fingers

Everyone, this is cream of the crop freewriting!
It's as clever and laugh-out-loud funny as "The Men Who Stare at Goats."
Highly recommended reading!

Wow! Just, wow, wow, and ohhhhh, how I hope you didn't write this from first-hand experience or eyewitness. Everyone, this is dark and brutal and packed with way more stuff than a 5-minute freewrite can hold - it's bursting at the seams with conflict, tension, horror, and a touching hint of backstory, a loving mother who protects her "too old for a piggyback ride" son by carrying him on her back through the war zone.
**Oops, I read the previous day's freewrite, https://steemit.com/freewrite/@botefarm/no-freedom-after-speech-2-day-329-5-minutes-freewrite. I'll get caught up with the others.
Here you go!

Like most Mamas would (I presume), I decided that I was done. Not because I was, but because I had to. If you know what I mean. LOL! As a mother, I do know what you mean. :)
Your photos are FANTASTIC - your daughter is a jewel - all parents should have a daughter like her as the firstborn. Our grandson, though, is a good contender: at age 2, he entertains his 9-month-old baby sister. She watches every move he makes, laughs, learns, and loves him to bits.
Stories and photos like yoursremind me to be glad I was not an only child. :) I was #4 of 5 girls, and I have waaaay more memories of fists and fingernails, but my sister Lori would read to me sometimes, and I was in utter awe of her ability to read. Mom was too busy to snap photos - once a year on birthdays, and Christmas, and little else! - but I'd love to have a picture of Lori reading to me.
A really long one today. Had too. This dude is throwing my off center.

Interesting questions you raise, Kimberly, and I love the photo you chose!
My mom's generation takes "til death us do part" very seriously, but women who "submit" tend to forget the part where husbands are to treasure, honor, love, and care for their wives (Mom married at age 18 in 1955, which was the norm). Yes, she took a vow, for better or worse, but he took a vow too, and when "worse" turns into "abusive," it's time to re-examine this notion of accepting one's lot in life.
Yes, I entirely agree and have walked away from such a vow myself.
Interesting and intersecting and complex questions that I run through my own psyche. I know I'm younger than our mothers' generation, but grew up in a community/environment in which the vows were norm.
Thanks for stopping by to read.

Oooh, "To Be Continued" - I will hold you to that!
*** ....he looked up and saw a pair of eyes looking right back at him.
And the eyes were smoking.***
Well, dang! I hope 'Timmy-from-school' all in one breathless word (love it!) will show up again and find out what basements are like, but only long enough to escape and never be a victim. :)
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
I love all the info that you always put in your posts. I always learn something. I wanted to let you know that the package that I sent to Venezuela from Amazon on August 14th just arrived today. it was delayed for quite some time in customs but it finally made it through!
That is fantastic!!! do you remember how much the shipping was?
I recently sent two $70 orders and the shipping was about $70 on each of them. I don't know if weight makes a difference or how they calculate shipping .
Amazon makes it very easy though. You can put together your whole entire order and then they tell you which things are not allowed to be shipped. You can go all the way up to the final invoice and still go back and change things if you want to. Andyou can see how much shipping will be before you actually place the order.
Thank you. That might be the better way to go now since inflation is so crazy over there. right now, I am holding on to all the steem to make sure that there is enough for Maria's operation...
There is so much need it's hard to know where to begin.
You are not kidding!
