Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside the browser.

Node.js brings event-driven programming to web servers, enabling development of fast web servers in JavaScript. Developers can create highly scalable servers without using threading, by using a simplified model of event-driven programming that uses callbacks to signal the completion of a task. Node.js connects the ease of a scripting language (JavaScript) with the power of Unix network programming.

In easier to understand words: Node-js is a free platform whose goal is to provide its users the possibility to create lightweight and cost efficient web servers, how does Node.js do this?

Node.js handles web server connections in a way so they don´t take up as much space in a server, and thus, the owner of a project would not need to invest as much money in multiple servers to store so much information in Gigabytes.

Being an Open Source Project, Node.js possesses immense value for providing so much while at the same time being totally free.

Contribution Specifications

488,255 words have been translated so far in the Spanish folder of Node.js, which amounts to a total of 46% done in regards to the completion of the translation of this big project.

Translation Overview

In this contribution I finished translating the second fs.md subfolder of Node.js and started to translate the third fs.md subfolder.

"FS" stands for "file system", which refers to the management process of where data will be stored within a storage disk; such data is usually stored in a hard disk drive.

Some of the other operations managed by file systems are: storage management, file naming, directories/folders, metadata, access rules and privileges.

Since in this contribution I worked on two different subfolders, I will first show the strings and concepts I learned while I finished translating the second fs.md folder:

In this opportunity there were a lot of strings that showed the default values of certain code strings (9 to be exact), these are some of those strings:

ENGLISH (1): <0>flag</0> {string} default = <0>'w'</0>

SPANISH (1): <0>flag</0> {string} por defecto es = <0>'w'</0>

ENGLISH (2): <0>encoding</0> {string | Null} default = <0>'utf8'</0>

SPANISH (2): <0>encoding</0> {string | Null} por defecto es = <0>'utf8'</0>

ENGLISH (3): <0>len</0> {integer} default = <0>0</0>

SPANISH (3): <0>len</0> {integer} por defecto es = <0>0</0>

Two strings found within fs.md explain specific interactions with inodes:

ENGLISH (1): AIX retains inode for the lifetime of a file, that way though this is different from Linux / OS X, this improves the usability of file watching.

SPANISH (1): AIX conserva el inode durante el tiempo de vida de un archivo, sin embargo este método es diferente al de Linux / OS X, este mejora la usabilidad de la observación de los archivos.

ENGLISH (2): Moreover, save and close operations on some platforms cause inode changes that force watch operations to become invalid and ineffective.

SPANISH (2): Asimismo, las operaciones de guardado y cierre en algunas plataformas generan cambios de inodos que fuerzan a las operaciones de observación a volverse inválidas e ineficaces.

I also found a couple of new concepts I hadn't seen before while working on Node.js:

1 . The first one was AIX, which is a series of Unix operating systems.

AIX was the first operating system to have a journaling file system, which refers to a file system that keeps track of changes not yet committed to the file system's main part by recording the intentions of such changes in a data structure known as a "journal".

AIX runs on the following servers: IBM eServers pSeries, it utilizes the processors of the IBM POWER type (32 and 64 bits).

2 . The other concept I researched while translating the second fs.md folder is OS X:

OS X is the current name for Apple's macOS.

It is the primary operating system for Apple's Mac family of computers, and by web usage, it is the second most widely used desktop OS, after Microsoft Windows.

Now I'm going to show the strings and concepts I learned while working on the third fs.md folder:

A considerable amount of strings found in this third subfolder have sentences that show messages and or details regarding certain actions:

ENGLISH (1): In busy processes, the programmer is <0>strongly encouraged</0> to use the
asynchronous versions of these calls.

SPANISH (1): En procesos difíciles, el programador es <0>fuertemente aconsejado</0> a que utilice las versiones asincrónicas de estas llamadas.

ENGLISH (2): With the asynchronous methods there is no guaranteed ordering.

SPANISH (2): Con los métodos asincrónicos no existe un orden garantizado.

ENGLISH (3): The asynchronous form always takes a completion callback as its last argument.

SPANISH (3): La forma asincrónica siempre toma un callback de terminación como su último argumento.

In this contribution, the concept that I learned while working on the third fs.md subfolder was form.

A form is a representation of a GUI window.

Forms contain widgets, visual controls (buttons, text boxes) and non-visual components (timers, database connections, layout aids). They contain components and controls typically including "OK" and "Cancel" buttons, these objects provide a high-level abstraction of standard or custom widgets which are typically much easier to manipulate than the GUI's underlying API.

The project's source language is English and it is being translated into Spanish.

Also, Node.js is currently being translated into other 32 languages. I´m contributing to making this project accessible to the Spanish speaking community online.
