Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside the browser.

Node.js brings event-driven programming to web servers, enabling development of fast web servers in JavaScript. Developers can create highly scalable servers without using threading, by using a simplified model of event-driven programming that uses callbacks to signal the completion of a task. Node.js connects the ease of a scripting language (JavaScript) with the power of Unix network programming.

In easier to understand words: Node-js is a free platform whose goal is to provide its users the possibility to create lightweight and cost efficient web servers, how does Node.js do this?

Node.js handles web server connections in a way so they don´t take up as much space in a server, and thus, the owner of a project would not need to invest as much money in multiple servers# to store so much information in Gigabytes.

Being an Open Source Project, Node.js possesses immense value for providing so much while at the same time being totally free.

Contribution Specifications

387,863 words have been translated so far in the Spanish folder of Node.js, which amounts to a total of 37% done in regards to the completion of the translation of this big project.

Translation Overview

In this contribution I continued translating the second addons.md subfolder of Node.js.

"FS" stands for "file system", which refers to the management process of where data will be stored within a storage disk; such data is usually stored in a hard disk drive.

Some of the other operations managed by file systems are: storage management, file naming, directories/folders, metadata, access rules and privileges.

A couple of the strings I translated in this contribution detail the functions of certain flags and files found within this subfolder:

ENGLISH (1): File mode indicating executable by group.

SPANISH (1): Modo de archivo que indica que puede ser ejecutado por el grupo.

ENGLISH (2): File mode indicating readable, writable and executable by owner.

SPANISH (2): Modo de archivo que indica que es legible, editable y que puede ser ejecutado por el propietario.

ENGLISH (3): Flag indicating that the file can be executed by the calling
process.

SPANISH (3): Bandera que indica que el archivo puede ser ejecutado por el proceso
de llamada.

ENGLISH (4): Flag indicating that data will be appended to the end of the file.

SPANISH (4): Bandera que indica que los datos serán anexados al final del archivo.

Some of the other strings specify the actions certain arguments or code values would perform under certain conditions:

ENGLISH (1): If <0>options</0> is a string, then it specifies the encoding.

SPANISH (1): Si <0>options</0> es una string, entonces especifica la codificación.

ENGLISH (2): If <0>autoClose</0> is false, then the file descriptor won't be closed, even if
there's an error.

SPANISH (2): Si <0>autoClose</0> es falso, entonces el descriptor de archivo no se cerrará, incluso si ocurre un error.

ENGLISH (3): <0>Note</0>: If a file descriptor is specified as the <1>file</1>, it will not be closed automatically.

SPANISH (3): <0>Nota</0>: Si un descriptor de archivo se especifica como el <1>file</1>, no será cerrado automáticamente.

Lastly, two of the strings I translated give recommendations on the usage of certain code values:

ENGLISH (1): Using <0>fs.exists()</0> to check for the existence of a file before calling
<0>fs.open()</0>, <0>fs.readFile()</0> or <0>fs.writeFile()</0> is not recommended.

SPANISH (1): Utilizar <0>fs.exists()</0> para verificar la existencia de un archivo antes de llamar a <0>fs.open()</0>, <0>fs.readFile()</0> o <0>fs.writeFile()</0> no es recomendado.

ENGLISH (2): This is one reason <0>fs.access()</0> is recommended instead of <0>fs.exists()</0>.

SPANISH (2): Esta es una razón por la que
se recomienda a <0>fs.access()</0> en lugar de <0>fs.exists()</0>.

This time, the new concept I learned about while working on this subfolder was Method:

In the world of programming, methods are actions related to the association between messages and objects.

For example, a Window object would have methods such as OPEN and CLOSE, while its state (whether it is opened or closed) would be a property.

Languages

The project's source language is English and it is being translated into Spanish.

Also, Node.js is currently being translated into other 32 languages. I´m contributing to making this project accessible to the Spanish speaking community online.
