Brewed by:

Cascade Brewery, Hobart, Tasmania

Alcohol Content:

4.4%

Beer Type:

Pale Lager

History:

Cascade Lager, also known as "blue", is a traditional full strength lager. Although it is not as widely available as the other varieties across Australia, it has a cult following, particularly among uni students. Brewed in Australia's oldest operating brewery, Cascade Lager is one of the traditional brews produced at the brewery. Cascade Brewery was established in 1832 and is Australia’s oldest continually operating brewery. The brewery is rare in that it produces its own malting for its mainstream beers from locally grown barley.

Drinkers Review:

Simply amazing beer, Tasmanias best kept secret. Mainlanders should be jealous such an offering isn’t available widespread across the country. It has a beautiful golden hue, with a perfect head and perfect carbonation. It's taste is amazing. The label for this beer has barely changed since the 1950’s and is has a real cult following in Tasmania. Firmly cemented as a legend in Tasmania, and it will take a whole lot more then a fancy label to sway its drinkers.

I must say I am a little biased though as I drank more than my fair share of this beer whilst at University in Hobart. Although it is a 'macro-lager' it is only mass-produced in small quantities for a local market. If you see any about, grab a few tinnies and get-em in-ya!

Rarely think about this beer, it kinda gets forgotten about by us lowly main-landers .... But yes I agree quite a nice beer in the taste department but lacking in the AC% in my uneducated opinion, Im just a guy that drinks to get pissed though :-)

Never heard of this beer before. It's a real shame but not many beers from Tasmania make their way over to the west coast. Love to see a traditional brewery still being used in such a beautiful building.

Nice job on the beer reviews @scooter! As a non beer drinker (dare I state that here), when you're done with the beers, is it time for the spirits?

I love my spirits, particularly bourbon and rum! Don't get me started!

I'm a good fan of beer but never tasted cascade beer before ..the percentage is cool.🍾🍾🍺🍺
