Beer Review - #2 - James Boags XXX Ale (Boag's Red)

History:

James Boags XXX Ale has been brewed in the James Boag & Son Launceston brewery since 1881. It cannot be purchased anywhere outside of the state of Tasmania, Australia, so you will need to head there to try this one on for size. It is one of the original beers produced in this 140+ year old brewery and still has a strong following of drinkers in its home state.

Availability:

James Boag XXX Ale is available for purchase in:

• tinnies (375 mL cans).
• stubbies (short-necked 375 mL bottles).
• Long Necks (750 mL bottles).

Drinkers Review:

Golden amber with a frothy white head which dies back to a thin layer. High carbonation. Malty with a medium bitterness. A beer favoured by all real men. Boags XXX Ale is not some soft tasting beer made for hipsters and office parties (no offence to hipsters and/or office parties). Clean crisp and refreshing, one of my favourites.
