For those who are not familiar with this contest we give interpretations to surreal paintings. It is amazing but there are as many interpretations as people. So, it is always very interesting to read all the interpretations and be impressed how different they can be.
THEME FOR ARTCHALLENGE #18 is a surreal painting of Rafal Olbinski.

One day instead of the usual conversations at the dining table them seized dreadful feeling of inevitable catastrophe. Before their eyes suddenly appeared a bottomless pit.
They were terrified by the inevitability of punishment of Humanity for Sin and Doubt, Indifference and Contempt to a Close...

My interpretation ...
They live a quiet life without luxuries, but at night they dream of the noise and the movement of the city. They are calm, but willing to change their present reality. Apparently they feel limited by the person who accompanies them, they think they can not share the desire to flee to the city.
We can not get away from what we want ... will seek to take a presence in one way or another!

The 2 are thinking about their life, the table cloth is just a cloth with a city skyline design on it, it's actually in the reality of the painting not symbolic but made to look like a New York City skyline at nite 3d illusion. They gaze upon it with dreams of moving to America and chasing their dreams.

I see two people who don't see eye to eye but are still together. I think we've all been there. As soon as I looked at this painting I thought of the Phil Colins' song, "That's All". "I see day, you see night," It is always a sad and uncomfortable time to go through this, hopefully, love will see them through it.
